The location and buildings are beautiful. The inside of the apartments look great. Front desk staff are very professional. However, the manager Krystal really needs to train her staff a lot better. The staff did not know that a guarantor and a co-signer are essentially the same thing. That it is not too much of an issue for me because the staff can easily be trained if not for the laziness of the office manager who had one of her staff call me directly after I had left her a message and want to speak with her directly. Krystal (or whoever the manager is) If I leave a voicemail and want to speak with you.I want to speak with you not someone else. You are a MANAGER! Do not be lazy and have one of your peons you did not train correctly contact me!

The main issue I have with Northport is its weird.and i mean very weird approval process. I have dealt with Edward Rose and Sons (property company owners of Northport) once before at a different apartment complex they own and have never had to deal with a screening company from out of state to process the application. Shockingly, and very oddly Northport does not check income! For a $900 apartment this is unexpected. They do however check credit. The application is solely based on credit. The issue I have with this is simple. What if you had just recently just got a job as a Physical Therapy Assistant ( a very high paying job) and had some student loan debt. A person could make $30 an hour and have student loan debt and still not be able to live here. My significant other got a very high paying job in the medical field and still couldn't get approved and she has no criminal history. From what the staff told me you could make minimum wage $9 an hour and get approved here if you have good credit! Which is very contradictory because $9 an hour people generally cannot afford a $900 apartment on their own. A lot of other companies use a lot more common sense. Avoid these people if you have student loan debt and had just graduated from college or medical school.even if you are making $30 to $40 an hour.

I find this approval process immoral and unethical. They want to accept the $9 an hour individuals to charge them late fees and make more money from these fees.

    UPDATE 12/7/2017:
So as you can plainly see below the owner or manager responded to this review. In the response below the owner states that they do check income. Why did the lady that showed me the apartment say they do not check income at all! Then when I called again a day later and spoke with a different lady in Northports front desk staff she also said they do not check income??! If infact northport did check income then we would've gotten approved. My significant other and I both make very very good money. As you can plainly see by reading this review and the response there seems to be a hick up in training with what the owner wants to what the manager is giving to the staff.

    UPDATE 12/11/2017:
Oddly enough after the previous update the owner deleted his or her comments about this review. Not sure why as I was just irritated with the lack of training the front staff had at the time.

How many maintenance does this apartment hire and then fire? They just got rid of one of the BEST guys that they had. Poor J.D, I wonder what you guys did to him to drive him away? Such a great guy, hard working and very sincere. Wherever you're at J.D, good luck!

I wish I could give only 1/2 a star and even that would be for the location of the community.
Firstly, be aware that you are not going to get back any security deposit money back or let's say 20% max if you're lucky. The onsite management will ask you to contact the head office as you can see in the response to one of the reviews below. The head office will throw all blame on you.
Here's the game they play - when you do the move-in inspection and notify them of very minor spots on wall or counter tops that any professional can clean easily, the onsite management will say it's normal as there will be some wear and tear with use. When you move out, you will be hold accountable and they will take away your security deposit money. I even have pics available to prove my point and the pics are in an email from them.

Simple suggestion : Find any other place.

Yes, the yard that holds all of the construction equipment is directly across from Northport, so we hear the back up alarm on the equipment and trucks pulling in and out of the area all night. Oh well, such is life! That's why we have fans, right? At least that covered up the traffic noise a little prior to the construction yard and construction. Thank you so much for your reply! I will absolutely reach out if I need another appliance repaired again, etc. This is just a review otherwise I would have called the office directly. Have a great weekend!

One the worst experiences ever. Once i informed them that i was moving out, they started coming up with different charges, including some fees that were previously waved 5 years ago. September 2016 i signed a 6 month lease only to find out it didn't go through 3 months later. I was being back charged a month to month fee for each month i was living there 'till i left. They retain my security deposit , around $500, because they had to paint twice and there were some scratches on the counter top ( i didn't know i was not supposed to use them) Two months after i left the place they keep calling me to ask for money, threatening me they will sent me to collection. I lived there for 7 years, they just remembered i own them $120,after 5 years it doesn't add up.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. But I'm less than 3 months staying here & I'm already looking at other places to go to when my lease is up. I'm beyond tired of the disrespect from Jacob, Sarah, and Melanie. The issues I've been having: birds nest over my carport (I never asked them to "kill a bird", I just asked them to remove the nest. But once I found out there were eggs in there, I'm dealing with it *jacob got loud and a attitude with me for asking why they couldn't move it. As if I was supposed to know eggs were in there why don't you let me know that in the beginning? Of course I wouldn't want you to harm any animal. All he said was "we are not going to kill the bird" over and over..), weird person watching me, etc. that I've brought to their attention, has been pretty much ignored by them, in my opinion. I've been in customer service a very long time & it takes one smooth "im sorry about that" to smooth an angry person. If the customer service sucks, to me the whole place sucks. I won't shop in a store and give my hard earned money, to a place that doesn't treat me right.

I've gotten attitude more than once with Jacob, my co worker has too.. that's why she decided to go somewhere else to live. I should have done the same thing. He talks to you as if you're nothing, and he could careless. He rushes you while you talk and brushes over your issues as if it's nothing.

I've contacted the regional manager a couple of times (by the way, he doesn't care either. Not empathetic at all.. just says "mmm k, I'll talk to them" no, I'm sorry this is happening to you, nothing) because talking to Krystal about her staff in the front clearly isn't working. She probably feels because he and the rest of them don't get complaints, that what I have to say to her could never happened.. because she never heard it before. Nope, if someone under me received a complaint, I'm talking to them about it, no matter if they've gotten 100 compliments. Someone still complained countless times for a reason.

If you've read this far. I'd tell you to look elsewhere. I'm new to the state, so I didn't know any better. So if you're here, look elsewhere ASAP.

Customer service is beyond horrible, and it doesn't seem to get better.

Wish I could give less than one star. It's sad, yal don't even have 3 stars. Should have noticed that when I moved here. if you want to feel like you matter and you're not just a tenant, go elsewhere. They are really nice up front, but once you sign they could give two rats behinds about you & your issues with the Apartments. Beware.

When I moved in it was just going to be temporary while my son finished school,(1year)Been living here over six years now, it's a great place to call home, close to everything, and yet only couple miles from country side, The office staff has always been very polite, and will go above and beyond to make you feel at home.and also take very well care of any special needs you may need.being disabled myself, I am in no hurry to move, or do I plan on it anytime soon. Hats off and thumbs up to Norhport.

If I could give 0 stars I would. And it looks like I'm not alone. I have lived here for about 6 months and it has been nothing but problems since day 1. They are all about temporary fixes, if they ever fix problems at all. Everything I call to have them fix something that's been broken since we've moved in, they don't even answer. Maintenance and office staff give you the run around and bullshit answers to delay then inevitable. I have lived in many part mentioned for much cheaper, and this is by far the most awful living situation I've ever had. They are really great before you sign the lease. But since then ever appliance had broken, there are holes everywhere, I have to kill at least 1 large spider EVERY DAY. this place is disgusting. I am so heartbroken that I fell for their lies.
