Smokey Robinson Show was excellent. Cant believe he's 83. Never missed a beat or a line. Seating was too tight. Tiny chairs with no space between. No smell of smoke at all from the casino. Very nice.

Don't plan on winning here, but unlike Potawatomi Carter Casino and HoChunk Wittenberg, at least you can play a while on your money.
As for their tier levels, I wish they had more levels or make it easier to move up. To get up to the next tier level at Northstar, it's nearly impossible unless you plan on going through big bucks, since you have to spend $4 for a point, and you need 3500 points, ($14,000.00) to get to that next level, were you'll receive little to nothing more in perks.
They do offer some pretty good promotions though, like on Tuesday Senior Day, you only have to go through $20, or 5 points to get $10 in freeplay, which is above and beyond your regular freeplay. Some promotions aren't so great like the earn 25 points, which is $100 to get a chance to pick a token, where you can receive usually $10 - $30, or sometimes even up to $50, but plan on getting $10.
Overall the staff is very helpful, friendly and cheerful. The surroundings are great and the crowd is fun and friendly. The hotel rooms are clean and nice. The food in the dining area is good, but they're usually closed and have become quite pricey over the past year. As for the food in the sandwich shop, it kind of reminds me of vending machine food and definitely not worth the cost.
They do have monthly drawings, but I wish instead of only having one prize, which is usually something big like a car, for us to drive 2 hours each way and not be that one winner isn't worth driving there. I'd be much more impressed if they gave something like five hourly $50, $100 or $200 prizes away from say 5:00 - midnight on those monthly drawing nights, then take the remaining balance that they save by not giving that $55,000 car away, and use that money to set the machines so they pay out a little better throughout the whole month. (Ex: Just my opinion but if they gave away five $100 prizes from 5:00 to 11:00, and $1,000 at midnight, instead of giving away a $55,000 car, they'd only be giving away $4,500, but I myself would be playing like a madman trying to earn entries throughout the month because I know I'd have a much greater chance of winning at least $100, and who knows, maybe even that $1,000 grand prize. Or better yet, double the ante and give away five $200 prizes per hour and three $1,000 prizes at midnight for a total drawing of $10,000, and you'll be drawing people in from all around. But when it comes to that one $55,000 car prizeMost people will say it ain't going to happen to me.)
The only real complaint I have is Considering 99.9% of casino patrons are either old or crippled, I think it's inconsiderate of Northstar to offer more parking spaces for their VIP players than they offer for their elderly and the Handicap patrons. Nothing like dragging my crippled azz across the parking lot so I can go in and lose money.
Either way, after going to Potawatomi Carter Casino for over 20 years, Northstar is a breath of fresh air in comparison. They give some decent perks in comparison to surrounding casinos, it's a fun casino and that's why they've earned a 5 Star from me.response / report this review -

It's a nice Casino, food is pretty good, sometimes Slots are tight, other times loose. I have never won a Jackpot, since they expanded, remodeled, and built the Hotel. They are offering the Buffet Brunch more days now instead of just the weekend, which is great! Get tired of Grilled food, and Subs.

What a wonderful stay I had! Food was good, drinks were good, suite was amazing. Staff was friendly, I can’t wait to come back.

On Sunday Apr.23 rd. I went in the hall where the weekly gifts are given away to inquire about how to receive them. I explain that I usually loose about 2 hundred a week and was laughed at and was told that I need 200 points a day for 6 months . Doesn’t sound right to me. At the very least they could have respect and said that they didn’t know instead of laughing and handing me a line of B.S. If someone from the front office can contact me and let me know what I really have to do I will appreciate it.
