The school is great I had to move and the school I'm at now is way worse then any other school I have been to the teacher at Nimitz are hard working and the staff are respectful to everyone

Totally ghetto! Nimitz is the worse school in NEISD. Bullies. NEISD can build new buildings and throw resources at the campus but they cannot change the culture of the ghetto bullies. So nice facade, but no results. The STEM program was placed at the Nimitz campus in order to bring up the reputation and score of this failing campus. We did not feel our family member was safe at Nimitz even in the STEM program. My God son was previously enrolled and we quickly made arrangements for the family to move to a safer schoolfar away from Shearer Hills and away from the Nimitz "culture". Even though NEISD has tried for decades to raise the bar, the culture in this area will not enable successful results. The administration and office staff is equally rude. I gave one star because ZERO was not available. Many attempts to look good but a zebra cannot change its stripes -- still ghetto bullies and rude, inept administration/teachers. The best teachers do not prefer Nimitz! This is why Nimitz rates 1189 out of 1998 Texas schools. Bottom of the ghetto barrel. My God son was not safe at Nimitz. So sad for those who don't have the choice to leave. The STEM Academy should be relocated out of Nimitz. Many students across NEISD are losing out because they will not attend the Nimitz campus, these are students of parents who pay in excess of 9,000 a year in property tax, and they can't attend because they do not feel safe with bullies. Something is wrong with this equation! Hope they relocate.

My son goes to Stem @Nimitz. He loves it. They make the kids work hard and keep them interested. They have a good orchestra program. Only problem I see is the never ending construction at Blanco in front of the parking lot. It's very dangerous for pedestrians and the traffic is ridiculous. The police started helping directing the traffic at the beginning of the day, so it helped a lot. No more parents trying to turn left (not allowed until 9am) and backing up traffic.

I believe that the following teachers are either not doing their jobs properly or not being appropriate in the school environment. Said teachers are Mr. Brandon Gilbert, Ms. Sandra Geisbush, Ms. Debroah Fillyaw, and Mr Rey Trevino. I and most likely many other students would probably agree that these teachers do not do their job the best that they can.
Brandon Gilbert (Texas History) does not properly teach his students, he has us basically teach ourselves. For example for the windmill/ research project that we are currently working on, rather than teaching about actual history, Mr Gilbert would much rather tell us our excessive amounts of homework. When he has us work on the windmill, he just tells us (and I quote) "Do something" and "figure it out" rather than actually helping us.
Ms Sandra Geisbush (Science) gives us excessive amounts of homework and classwork quite often. She spends almost half of the class period over-explaining seemingly transparent work that could be done with some time but large amounts of time. She expects us to finish it in the few minutes of class that we have left. Not to mention she disrupts class to wrongly accuse students of cheating and not being 'responsible enough' with their work .
Ms Deborah Fillyaw tries at her job, but doesn't do it the best that she can, to the point where it gets a bit irritating. On occasion she will wrongly take clear string bags from people. She also takes up to a month to complete corrections for assignments.
Mr Rey Trevino shows signs of pedophilia towards his students. I am pretty sure it makes some of us uncomfortable, but we all know he is most likely joking just around.
These are my (and many others) opinions on these teachers and how they can improve their skill at their jobs.response / report this review -

Went there a few years ago for only one semester hallelujah. Bullied there and no one did anything. School is ugly and incredibly ghetto including the kids. Only teacher I liked there was mr. Brown the English teacher.

One of my friends goes here and he gets treated really bad by this kid who beats him up and tells him to go kill himself, its really sad bc i dont go to the same school he does. And he says the teachers are all annoying, i dont like seeing my friend get bullied everyday :( If u wanna pick a school to go to, dont pick this school

Both of my kids attend the STEM Academy at Nimitz. It is a wonderful school. High quality education, the teachers are very good and great at keeping in touch with you, the principal and Dr. Alcala are the personification of team work.

Nimitz is a wonderful place. Student and parent involvement is high as well as teacher commitment. Students at Nimitz know that they have a team of family and teachers who go above and beyond to help them succeed.

My son goes to Stem @Nimitz. He loves it. They make the kids work hard and keep them interested. He attends Orchestra@Nimitz and they have the best teacher, Mr Chapman. He is patient and is helping the school bring a lot of trophies from competitions. They finished construction at the Stem building. It looks great. My son is happy to be out of the portables. I don't know about Nimitz, but can say that Stem is great. Only problem I see is the never ending construction at Blanco in front of the parking lot. It's very dangerous for pedestrians and the traffic is ridiculous. It moves too slow at the drop off/pick up hours
