Some advice: buy your tickets online and get there early. The crowds here are crazy, however, you can't blame anyone. This place is awesome. It was cool when I was a kid, but know that I'm an adult and more aware of how vital conservation is, I'm floored by the work this place is involved in. Also penguin feeding time; a must see! The information given at the top of the tank is fascinating too. Everything in the aquarium is just so neat. And you can touch animals in certain exhibits.

It was an awesome place to be as a new tourist in Boston, the animals were both exotic and interesting and the staff was great, answering all my questions about the exhibitions.
It's fun as you can get to watch shows, be and touch some animals such as sharks and rays.
The gift shop it's great as their products have a reasonable price and often have sales.
The restaurant although it's for my taste a little overpriced, has great and tasty food.response / report this review -

It is a little small, but a very nice aquarium. The animals and tanks are well kept. They have a lot of demonstrations and educational sessions. I particularly liked watching feeding of the penguins. The training session with the seals was good also. There's a shark exhibit on the map, but it was not fully open when I went. All in all I spent about 2 hours in the aquarium.

We visited with our whole school today. It was an easy visit considering. The school had organized a schedule for the cafeteria for lunch time so we would not take the whole place. It worked fine. We had to wait outside around 10 minutes before entering the Aquarium while a guide told us what to expect, how to approach the exhibits (mainly the touch tank) and how to proceed in the case of a lost student. It was cold, some students left their jackets in the bus so they would not carry them all the time. We were lucky it was not freezing and the sun was out. The kids had a great time.

I love aquariums and this one in Boston is great. They do a great job of utilizing a relatively small space to give you a lot of experiences throughout the different exhibits.
The setup of the aquarium has you start with penguins, which everyone loves. They move you through to learning about the changing environment of earth and our impact as humans. Then you can check out the outdoor exhibit with sea lions or move up into a number of fish exhibits of the different environments around the world. They have you spiral around the outside of the building, wrapping up at the top of the center large tank exhibit in the middle. Some of my favorite exhibits are the Octopuses, Myrtle the sea turtle, and the Pacific Northwest river fishes.
The cost of entrance is high for a single visit, but if you opt for the one year membership, you get a great value. I bought a one year membership which allows me unlimited entry with a guest for about $90. The prices and tiers recently changed, but it's still a good value and a great way to keep me revisiting multiple times a year.
This is a great place to take your kids, explore on a weekend with friends or even bring a date to.response / report this review -

I was slightly disappointed, thought they would have a little more. Especially sharks, they only had the small ones. I did love however the giant tank that mimics a real coral with two giant sea turtles. It was still a great experience and I loved how much room the penguins had.

Excellent for the size. The large tank that goes through the center of the building and full height is great. Favorite part was watching the sea lions and fur seals swim and splash around. Also love the free sting ray petting exhibit. Definitely a great choice for all ages. Keep in mind there is no dolphins, otters or sharks(they have shark embryos) that was pretty cool.

I found this aquarium very crowded for the sea life and I find it to be a huge concern for their well being. My daughter and I enjoy visiting aquariums and support them if they are in fact rescuing and providing for sea life that have been endangered but this one doesn't seem to offer those qualities. It was very upsetting to see this and we left within 20 min. The facility should be enlarged so that there is more space for more movement in the tanks. I do not support this aquarium at all.

Its a little expensive, but fun place. I enjoyed watching the penguins and the tons of exotic fish. They also have an area where you can pet/touch starfish. Overall a good experience. Definitely worth a visit.
I also went for the whale watching tour. The tour took around 3.5 hours and out of that, we traveled on the boat for almost 2.5 hours before we spotted the first whale. Personally, I was not a huge fan of the experience as I felt a little sea sick and I saw the whales only for a total of 10 minutes in the 3.5 hrs trip.response / report this review -

We really enjoyed our time at the aquarium! My 10 year daughter didn't want to leave. So much to see and learn. The displays are brilliant and allow you to become really immersed in the underwater world of many locations around the world. We are from Florida and get to see lots of sea life in our everyday lives and loved seeing many of the species from our region as well. The penguins, sea lions and seals were probably our favorites. We also like the low key low stress feel if the place as well.

Such an amazing Aquarium. The four story Aquarium is just amazing. I definitely didn't expect it to be as big as it was and as much fun. We drove six hours to visit this Aquarium and we will definitely be doing it again.

To my surprise I actually enjoyed this experience. I am from NY, so the thought of ever seeing a whale in person - boggles my mind. Like who gets to see whales? It was so surreal to see all the different types of whales come above the water, in their natural habitat. We were at sea on our way to their feeding ground for about 45 minutes. Once we arrived we were able to see a NUMBER of whales on every side of the boat. Which was enjoyable, it did not matter where you were standing you still got a view.
I also appreciated their disclaimer where they told us, if we did not see a whale when we out they would give us a free pass to go on another cruise on a day of our choice for free (& the voucher is valid indefinitely). Companies do not have to do that, but this company offered that option.
Just a tip - definitely wear something warm - no matter how good the weather is. Once the boat picked up speed, that cold air took my boyfriend and I by surprise.
Beautiful experience, so happy I was able to see so many whales and learn about them as well.response / report this review -

Very cool aquarium. And some of the friendliest and lively creatures I've ever seen. The sting rays were like a bunch of slimy puppy dogs all wanting to be petted. Go here when you can.

The displays are informative and filled with healthy-looking, numerous, and diverse creatures. The food provided is a small bit overpriced but very flavorful and with good serving sizes. The few issues I have with this attraction are these; the place is over-crowded to the extreme. We brought a few handicapped people with us on our trip and the accessibility is exceptional, with ramps and elevators that allow full access. However there is no crowd control, and the people aren't courteous in the least. There should be some type of moderation or perhaps lanes dedicated to the handicapped, because in our experience we had a near injury when a crowd got fed up and one member of said crowd pushed my grandmother's walker out of her hands and threw it to the side to get her out of the way. The restrooms are family restrooms but as such they are mostly used by one person at a time. We waited about 20 minutes to share bathrooms with group members to save time and frustration. So the place is nice, with reasonable prices and decent food at barely high prices, but the overcrowded nature of the place, the narrow walkways that bottleneck crowds to the point of violent frustration, and the lack of staff moderating this behavior took away a good bit of the experience. There needs to be a system in place to manage the number of people here or direct the flow of traffic, so others don't have such a rough time. When rude shoving is necessary just to see a display from afar, something should be changed.

Awesome aquarium! Great set up as it's an upward spiral and a huge collection of animals and sea life. Everything is wheelchair/stroller accessible. I would definitely come back to this aquarium. They do a turtle feeding which is SO CUTE! All of the workers are very informative.
Pro tip: don't wait on the line (which can get quite long), buy tickets on your phone and present via mobile.response / report this review
