I thought I was tired of my cable TV giving me hidden fees - this restaurant proved me wrong.

I ordered their Shrimp Quesadilla and the waiter asked if I wanted green peppers and onions, I (assuming it was like a standard pickle on a burger) said I'd be fine with very light onions and green peppers.

Come time to checkout and I find they're overcharging me $1.50 for the dish, so I ask the waiter to correct it and he says that the onions and green peppers were extra! Ridiculous, he never specified it in the first place, the menu didn't show extra anywhere. Nothing. To add insult to injury, he helpfully said that were $0.50 extra each, which doesn't make for a $1.50 extra charge.

My partner decided not to push it and leave at that point, but I can never recommend this restaurant to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

I've been going here off and on for twenty years, which is amazing in the Atlanta Mexican restaurant market. Monterey continues to be consistent and deliver good food and, most importantly, a good margarita. They haven't changed much to compete against the various fads that come and go, but continue to deliver in their sweet spot. The only negative to me, which might be a positive for others, is the live music on weekends. I don't like it. It's not a reflection on the quality of the performers, which are good as far as that kind of entertainment goes, but I prefer dinner conversation with my table. And that's why it's a bit off and on for me to go here.

I got there and my to go order was sitting right there where I could see it, I had cash in my hand ready to pay. The guy at the counter said he doesn't process the to go orders. The girl that supposedly does comes by and said either she couldn't do it while he was using the register, or he had to ring it up, I am not sure because she kept seating people. After 5 minutes with my order sitting there getting cold, I left. So they lost that $25 order and my business. We have spent a lit of money there over the years

This has got to be the WORST Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The food was horrible and too expensive for the portion size. All I ordered was rice with grilled chicken and cheese on top. $9.79 !!! On top of that, the waitress never refilled my drink and another waitress came by to give my check after sitting there for 7 minutes waiting for someone to check on me. Terrible terrible service AND food!

We had a party of 5 and were seated and served very quickly. The guacamole was extremely fresh and delicious. The ground meat dishes were better than usual Mexican fare. We would definitely return and recommend this Monterey.

My previous review was a 5* and I have always gotten decent service, but after my recent trip, I can only give it 2. After waiting for 10 minutes for our drinks and for someone to even acknowledge our existence, we gave our order, which came out wrong, and when i asked the server about it upon receiving the check, she argued with me, despite the menu proving me right without a doubt, and would not adjust the bill. I will not be going backthis was at lunch and they weren't even busy.SAD!
