The CA fires have made this quite a unique experience. Not a lot of other guests. Pool and Jacuzzi are closed because of the ash and poor air quality. This is the hotel that Charlie Chaplin built in 1928. Einstein stayed here, as did Marion Davies, Lillian Gish, Bette Davis and many other very early film stars. There's still that residual vibe from long ago felt most strongly in the hallways and elevator. Let yourself feel it. You might not feel entirely alone, should you check in by yourself, I'll put it that way. My comfort zone might not be yours. Small queen room with a view of a roof, but it's quiet, except for the howl of a far off train, occasionally. Fits this experience perfectly. There are much nicer rooms. We wanted a cheaper one. You can spend several hundred dollars on a room with a sunken tub that's large and luxuriously appointed That's not our thing, but might be yours. This would be a good place to splurge, if you're inclined. It was our anniversary and the front desk sent up a free bottle of sparkling wine a very nice gesture. Parking is an additional $15.00. Street parking is limited and constrictive for maximum ticketing. Spend the $15.00 and forget about it. Expect to spend some money if you visit Montecito. Oprah has her West Coast mansion in the hills. This is a super toney town with upscale shops and dining that rivals anything in Beverly Hills. Bottom line: This is a lovely hotel that for me has some residual activity. I've seen a few shadows dart at the periphery of my vision on the second floor. If little tugs and glimpses from the past scare you, you might want to stay in a place that doesn't have as much ambiance and history. Let your mind wander while you're taking a shower. Mental snapshots are pretty amazing.

Beautiful, relaxing, comfortable, friendly and conveniently located hotel with a Mediterranean charm. Its a great "oasis" within most popular Montecitto area. The hotel was built by Charlie Chaplin and friends in 1928 as an escape from show business, so it’s filled with history and incredibly collection of black and white photos. Rooms are quite and completely redesigned. Breakfast, fresh paper and pool are fantastic. Staff super friendly and helpful. Thank you so much. I will be back.

Beautiful hotel right in downtown Montecito. Immaculate rooms that somehow feel both modern and historical. Had a wonderful time with my kids in the pool for a pre-dinner swim. Location could not have been better-so many wonderful restaurants and shops within a stone's throw.

The montecito inn is a beautiful, old boutique hotel just minutes from Santa Barbara in quaint Montecito. Just blocks from the ocean so make sure you borrow the complimentary bikes and ride by the beach. The service was great. The room was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed. There are several great restaurants within walking distance. Definitely worth a look if visiting Santa Barbara.

Very nice place to stay with very good amenities. Well maintained throughout. Very high end shopping and food with in a few minutes walk. Close to freeway.

Great location walking distance to all the shops and 15min walk to the beach, they offer bikes if you don't care to walk. Rooms were very nice and staff was accommodating. Will return.

The rooms are small but very comfortable. Some parts of the hotel can really use an update though. Our bathroom did t look like it had. Even updated since the 70s. Service was limited to interactions with the front front desk and bellmen, but they were all very warm and accommodating.

Nice little inn in Montecito. The standard queen bedroom is slightly smaller than expected. Valet or self parking is $10 each day.

While quaint, this place is crazy noisy. The side we were on, no one could sleep past 6am due to street noise and construction. No one told us about noise when we checked in (at midnight). The shower didn't drain and turned into a bath, so quick showers were requisite. They gave us a small discount and comped parking, but can't make up for a full day of a cranky family. Location is great and they were nice.
