I used to enjoy going to this store because the staff was always helpful and there was never a long line. I've been going to this store for the four years I've lived in Plainfield. I bought my grill, all my lawn care, and home maintenance supplies from this store and have never had a problem until today.

I needed to have a propane tank refilled and I also bought a bungee cord to secure it in the trunk. After driving around and unloading the tank - I noticed the bungee cord was too small and asked if I could run in and replace it while they were filling it. The older gentleman refilling the tank gave a condescending response and offered no help while the manager looked on. Neither one of the two personnel would help me. It took three times as long as it should have to get everything I needed from the store, the customer service is lacking, and the staff was unhelpful. I had to explain the situation to three different people including the manager before I got everything I needed.

I will be telling my friends and family to avoid this store and instead give their business to other small hardware stores in the area who can understand a simple exchange.

I prefer to shop at this store for things I could easily purchase elsewhere. The staff at Mitch's store is knowledgeable,very helpful and friendly, in fact. The store is clean,aisles neatly arranged and clearly labeled. If you need assistance, they are there. If you're a browser like myself, they don't hover. I bet they carry things that would surprise you! So if your tired of walking a mile between hammers and nails and blaring loudspeakers so loud you can't think or read a product label without being interrupted, shop at Mitch's.
