Ive been going to this place for about 2 years now for small quantity sheet metal purchases and although I have a few pif's with the place will continue to buy here because they have good prices.

Pros- It's cheap, quick and easy. Walk in, walk out 10 minuets later with what you needed, for a reasonable price.

Cons- Always have to over purchase. Not sure what they are using to make their cuts, but I have never in the 2 years of shopping there gotten a piece of sheet metal cut square on all 4 corners. It's off by about an 1/8th inch per 12 inches length. Also do not get aluminum plasma cut here. Plasma cutting aluminum is difficult, this shop either does not have to know how to do it correctly, or just doesn't care. I have had a single sheet of aluminum plasma cut by them and it was horrific. It was a large simple piece, but I needed accuracy, and they did not deliver on that end.

Overall its a good place to get material, but don't expect to take anything directly out of the place without having to recut it yourself.

These folks are great. Their online price estimator is the same as store prices, they have good customer service, and will cut the metal you want quickly while you wait. Their retail store items are fun to browse as well. Thanks guys.

I've been coming here for the last few years for all my steel needs for my small business and personal projects. I've tried pricing from almost every other metal supplier in the KC area in that time very few come close to the pricing that metal by the foot can offer. For the ones that can offer lower prices, their cut fees are much higher and customer service is literally non-existent. Even though it's a much longer drive for me to get here than other places, it's my go-to metal supplier, every time. Also, sometimes I need steel on a Saturday and it's great that they're available then. Tony and the guys up front really know their stuff and have pointed me in the right direction the last 3-4 years. For the very few times I've had an order cut a little bit off or something like that, I've been able to speak with someone, whether it's the guys up front or the owner, and I can say they've always done their best to make it right. Good people. Honest prices. Great customer service. If you need metal in Kansas City, Metal by the Foot is the place to get it.
