I only put one star because, I have not gone to yet! I made reservations for my family to stay for new years 2017. I was recently at a different water park and a nice family recommend, Maui so I figured why not try them. I made reservations and my daughter calls me yesterday, to tell me about bed bug issue. I see Maui is under new management, and the bed bug situation, seems to be resolved, has management replaced staff? I see post about how unpleasant some have been, and has any updates been done? Is the hot tub hot, the water warmer, and the small child's area working? I am arriving 12/30/2017 and have reserved 3 rooms. This is our Christmas this year, we decided to do this instead of gifts. If management is reading this, I hope to give a good review after our stay😉

Worst water park I was ever at. Employees aren't very friendly, the motel rooms aren't the cleanest. The showers you set them at one temperature and while your showering the water gets cold then hot then cold. The breakfast they over charge you on. The water park there isn't much there to do the employee 's complain about every little thing, for example your not allowed to sit on the side of the pool with you feet hanging in or they complain mean while there's other people doing it and they don't say a word. They complained about my little one going down the little slide. My advice to everyone don't waste your money the place isn't worth the money or the 3 hour drive we made to go!!! Very disappointed

I’m horrified after watching Hotel Impossible that aired on 11/13/2017 episode-141. This place is infested with bed bugs-EVERYWHERE🤢! There is 100% complete lack for guest safety among the owners. They invested in an extermination company that exterminated HALF the hotel while they closed the other half. What do they think will happen to the closed half? The bed bugs will, in due time, continue to make their way to the occupied rooms slowly infesting the entire place place again! The owners are most worried about revenue. Where is corporate? Why aren’t they involved with helping to shut this place down until public safety can be restored to the guests that visit the place? Having smoke alarms malfunctioning, taking home creepy crawlers, having rotting wood gate poles in the pool area, having the general physical appearance of the hotel be in disrepair and uncared for, and rust everywhere isn’t a hotel where management, owners, and corporate put guest safety as number. VISITOR BEWARE!

This place is bed bug heaven. It was featured on hotel impossible. They have bed bugs through the whole hotel top to bottom. They have roaches that hang out in the pool area and the bar. They have no intention on getting it together. The owners seem very careless and like a bunch of morons. The stairs to the slides are full blown metal and chipping off which has gotten stuck in several guests feet. The water is at hypothermia causing temperatures. This is ridiculous NEVER would I bring my son there. This has went very down hill since I was there a few years ago. So any guest who stays there goes home with nice amount of bed bugs that’s so disgusting.

Not great, adequate for some families, I wouldn’t go back. Clean but, over used it’s probably close to It’s final days. Looks like an investment property that investors are looking to squeeze the last few pennies out of. There’s other options in the area pay the extra money for one of them. Looks as if there were some minor interior cosmetic updates the exterior reminds me of an abandoned building. The pool area wasn’t anything to write home about, website pictures are misleading.

We came for a short family vacation. Stayed 2 nights with a groupon deal. The price was half of what great wolf was. The hotel was fine, but like other reviews said, it does need updating. They do have a little kids play area and an arcade though.

We have a toddler and a senior traveling with us so we needed a variety of activities. The lazy river was nice and the small kid's slide tower was great for toddler. The other 2 little kid stations were closed so that limited our options. The body slides were both closed, but the tube slides were fun for the adults. Hot tub for all ages was a nice surprise.

The food selection was limited. More like a concession stand. Expensive food for what you get.

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the resort (using that loosely). It's a great location, near a lot of other restaurants and stores. We also went down the road to ghostly manor for lot of indoor fun too. We enjoyed our stay! =)

My 9 year old son had a great time in the water park. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It does need some maintenance work around certain spots. It is also a labyrinth of hallways to get anywhere. I would recommend always going outside then entering through main doors to access your room or the water park and lobby. It was over priced in my opinion.

It is much less expensive than Kalahari or Great Wolf but you get what you pay for. We have been to all multiple times. The lazy river is closed most of the day (I don't think they are fully staffed much of the time). Staff has been friendly and the rooms were clean. A lot of the games in the game room take the kids money and don't work and that has happened every time. It is a cheap get away and the kids have fun.

This place is the best!!! As soon as I arrived I was greeted immediately by the friendly front desk associates. Within a few minutes I was check in to my very clean and spacious room. The water park was very clean and fun. My final destination was Cedar Point the next day and this place was less then a 10 min drive. Very conveniently location.

TOO EXPENSIVE for the low quality type of hotel. Is too big, too many rooms (vacant mostly), too dusty employees not sure how to guide us to our room. ONE elevator that ONLY takes you to the 4th floor. Volcano grill is a joke. Carpet in the rooms are nasty.
Not worth staying there JUST to be at the water park. NEVER again will I stay here. I DO NOT recommend it.

It was great. My daughter loved it too. All of the attractions were open and the front desk staff was very pleasant. We needed maintenance to fix a small issue and they were to our room with in 10 minutes. The bar drinks were great as well. I would definitely return.

The two women at the front desk were grouchy, so it started with a bad vibe. The system for renting lockers messed up and had my family and another family renting the same locker after already charging both of us. It took 45 minutes to get someone there to resolve the problem and they didn't even offer us a refund.. we spent our money waiting on them. People were dumping dirty towels in the clean bin while other people were still grabbing for clean towels. Their method for the towels does not work. DO NOT USE THE TOWELS. The bathrooms/changing room was disgusting. Dirty towels and underwear all through out the changing room. The bathroom had a stall that didn't even shut and one was out of order with the door hanging off it. The other two stalls had toilet paper and urine all around them. There was diapers on the ground in the bathroom as well. It also sucks that they don't have a wave pool. There's not really a spot the the whole family could hangout and RELAX. Filthy place. I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up with pink eye or have a damn ringworm.

I don't understand all the bad reviews. It isn't Kalahari. If you're expecting Kalahari yes you'll be disappointed. But you certainly aren't paying the Kalahari price either. Great fun activity for a family on a budget. We enjoyed the park as well as the room. Our room was very nice imo. No bed bugs! 😂😂😂
    Tips:
Take your own life jacket if you want one.
We didn't eat there but there's plenty of restaurants close by.
    Park gets busier after 4pm
Don't complain that it isn't Kalahari If you don't want to spend that much money!
Really nice that we didn't have to walk a mile to get to the water park!
Great time and hotel for the money.

Maui Sands is an indoor water park that is like a smaller Kalahari. There are fewer amenities. The water park is smaller. I actually liked the smaller water park because I felt like my children could go off on their own and I didn't have to worry about them. For adults I would have liked a couple more amenities. The bar area is very small and the restaurant does not serve food after 11 p.m. Other than one lady at the front desk everyone else was very nice. She seemed like she hated her job. The room was clean, I LOVED the bunk beds and master suite. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room. For the price, it was well worth it.
