  Remote campground. About 10 miles off the main road. Google directions would have taken us up a gravel road. So follow signs for the paved road. Also sign at actual entrance to campground was a bit hidden and no arrow directing us left. All 34 spots are paved but some narrow. Trees coming into the campground on forest road were too short and our 5th wheel roof definitely took a beating. There was no campground host and the spots could have been mowed. Very pretty spot with sporadic cell service. Most people had some kind of off road vehicle.

  This national first is a great find in Missouri, from beautiful hiking trails, to long rivers, and camp grounds. We went on a 5 mile hike and enjoyed every minute of it. Tons of trees to keep you shaded from the sun and a clean park to explore. We camped out and got to see the stars miles away from the city. Would highly recommend coming out to enjoy the great outdoors in this great landscape. Some areas do have main roads pretty close to campgrounds so the traffic is a little bothersome at some points but other than that a beautiful greenscape.

  There are places of unparalleled beauty here. Winter is the time and off trail is the way. Get a map, bring your compass and aim for the deep hollows and the narrow ridges.

  We have been hunting this area most Springs for 35+ years. Forest is well managed, though seeing much oak going to waste at logging sites is discouraging. So is dramatic drop in turkey population. This may have been my last trip. Spring came very late here, so wild flowers are way behind.

  Mark Twain National Forest is huge!
  
  So many different places to go see and do.
  
  All different kinds of camping are available in different areas. Foraging, hunting, walking and hiking.
  
  Several Rivers streams and Creeks run through out at different places.
