Where do I start??? I recently started attending various Trivia Night contests at local restaurant/bar establishments with friends. A friend recently invited me to join them at your establishment in Bay Harbor/Petoskey for trivia this Wednesday. Curious about said event I went to your website to learn more.

Upon finding your website I also found an outdated schedule of last summer’s entertainment as well as the link regarding your Trivia Night Events. Your on-line promotional poster shows that you will be hosting trivia on Thursday nights at the “Knot”. Concerned that my friend might have been confused about what night you actually do host trivia, I called Knot Just a Bar in Bay Harbor/Petoskey.

The young man who answered the phone confirmed that your Trivia Night is indeed on Wednesday night so I attempted to inform him that your website’s information appeared to be incorrect. Having worked in the hospitality industry as well as retail AND owning and operating my own business, I know how important it is to have up to date and correct information available for potential customers.

Here is where the call took a strange and upsetting turn:

The young man proceeded to assume that I was looking at a Facebook page and he then told me that Knot Just a Bar “did not have a website”. He basically tried to tell me that I was wrong on several levels. Now I am not sure how you train your employees but as far back as I can remember, even if the customer is wrong, you would never insinuate that they were wrong.

The brief exchange with your employee was frustrating to say the least. Perhaps he should have simply said, Trivia Night is on Wednesday night and that he will take a look at the website (that he didn’t know existed) so future potential customers don’t show up on the wrong night to play trivia.

There seems to be an endemic condition in this area of misinformation and questionable work ethics. It would be nice to separate yourself from that herd to show that you are above the rest. I am very familiar with your bar as well as the entire marina community. I am a boater and have utilized Bay Harbor Lake Marina in various capacities for many years. I realize that off-season Trivia Night at the “Knot” is an attempt to bolster business when most marina folks have migrated to warmer climates, so it would serve you well to have your information accurate and up to date. Most importantly don’t argue with the customer.

***UPDATE***

I ended up going to their trivia night event last night. After having a very below average and overpriced dinner and a couple of overpriced beers there was no trivia night or mention of it.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT. McDonald's has you beat HANDS DOWN!!!

Good cod. The batter was very thin. Would like to see something else offered with the special like sweet potato fries. Coleslaw was good, not dripping with dressing.

Love the atmosphere and the view. The food is only okay, but that's not why you go here. The beer list is fun, drink them all and you can get your name on the wall.

Friendly servers. Reasonable drink prices. Beautiful location. I watched the food be delivered and I was not that impressed so I did not order any food. Just average sandwich fare for a high price. Location on the water is why. Have a beer here.

Great location in Bay harbor. Food is good. Indoor and outdoor seating. Ok size bar. Service can sometimes be spotty.

The food is expensive and not that great, but a good beer selection and a great location. But we went in for a late lunch with 8 adults and the place was virtually empty. The staff refused to put 2 tables together telling us it would crowd the dining room. Unreal and rude. We went elsewhere where they *surprise* had a table that worked. Will not likely return or recommend to others.
