It amazes me how some patients feel that they are entitled to more rapid care than others in the Emergency Department. Such patients as those equate their wait times to the quality of the care they were ultimately provided. While pain is not pleasant for anyone, no one ever died from just pain. It is the job of the professionals to prioritize the patients and take the worst first. In a busy Level One trauma center, the wait times can be very long for less than life threatening conditions. Try to understand that. while you are waiting, the staff members are busy caring for patients that need it as much or more than you might. I praise and applaud the professionals at Loyola for the outstanding level of care that they provide to their patients. Patience on the part of patients should be paramount, if they wish to receive that high level of care.

I gave birth in this hospital two months ago. I don't know where to start. I'm really sorry that some people have to work in this hospital. Doctors don't know what they're doing, nurses are rude. I experienced many inconveniences during pregnancy and after. I couldn't wait to go home. Just don't go to this hospital. The only doctor who is professional, pleasant and who really listens to you is OB Dr. Julie Marks.

Best hospital I've ever been to. Their pediatrics team are ANGELS. They take amazing care of the kiddos and are as kind and patient as can be. 10 stars if I could. Dr. Mike White, Ms Deb and Ms Mindy in PICUTHE BEST. Ms Carol in the regular Peds unit best nurse ever. Real life angels. THANK YOU!!!

I delivered my son here at Loyola, the nurses in the Labor and delivery department were 5/5 stars! Very wonderful and great bedside manners. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! The next part of my review should not discredit the nurses from Labor and delivery.
Everything was great until I transferred to the postpartum ward. Ehh, I wasn’t happy with the care I received. I had a total of 4 nurses in the postpartum ward. I only liked 1 of them. The other 3, shouldn’t be working in the postpartum ward. One nurse said, “if I didn’t correctly breastfeed my baby, I would not be allowed to take my baby home.” Very stressful! I would like to say, FED IS BEST! Nurses shouldn’t pressure anyone to breastfeed. Not only that, I had no help from nurses but would get scolded at. The trash was filling up so bad, i had to change both trash myself. Just felt so dirty in an unclean room.
I do like Loyola as a hospital, amazing nurses and doctors. Despite the bad reviews on their emergency department. I feel the opposite. Top notch emergency department. There is a long wait, though. Exceptional service, nonetheless. I just wouldn’t recommend the postpartum care at Loyola.response / report this review -

Ever since my sibling was diagnosed with cancer, I have never experienced such completely incompetent, rude, and negligent staff. I get a phone call from the nurse taking care of her. I ask her specific questions about the surgery, but she only reading a tiny portion of the record; it was obvious she didn't want to expend the effort to read her chart information, and just wanted get off the phone. So, she states she will have a nurse practitioner call me back in a few minutes. NO CALL. She was rude and got mad at my sister, who is laying there suffering. She needed to be catherized, but this fool of a nurse didn't even have the skill to insert it, and hurt her, which gave my sister such trauma, 3 other people tried to insert a catheter, but her uterus was so traumatized, they could not. Can you believe this? I forgot to mention that in a second call to my sister's room, this nurse answered the phone, & said she was doing something to my sister, so I could not talk to her now. Yes, trying to insert a catheter like the incompetent "nurse" she was. Now, my sister is still sitting in bed, waiting for them to get someone who will try this again. And, by the way, Loyola is the only hospital I have EVER went to that charges even patients who come for visits or tests $5 to park there! What a poor excuse of what at one time was a high quality hospital.

Great Hospital and out patient services. The nurses were wonderful - competent, caring. The doctors were available and explained procedures well. Medications were administered promptly.

The worst hospital in the immediate western suburban vicinity! Filthy, antiquated equipment, horrific non trustworthy security, heartless staff, if you simply must go to this hospital I suggest you go to your local funeral home first!
My 93 year old Mom fell and broke her hip. They took her to Loyola for admission. She was a loyal patient having worked there for 25+ years in pediatrics. We waited from 2:30pm - 1am for a room and once we received one it was deplorable. Dust and cobwebs greeted us. There was no dinner table tray, a broken bed and no dresser/nightstand to store things. Not to mention I was informed that I couldn’t stay in the room with my Mom because another patient was being admitted and being Caucasian, they felt unsafe with the presence of a African American male staying overnight. I was forced to stay in the visitors waiting room. Sunday night around midnight my Mother’s roommates daughter came and found me because a Dr was in the room insisting that my Mother consent to immediate surgery for blood clots in her lungs. I asked them to leave the room so I could talk to my Mom privately. Not 5 minutes into our privacy the very same Dr came back in the room to say that they’d made a mistake the CAT was read I correctly. 😳 Then to add insult to energy, during our stay my laptop was stolen from Moms room. The Keystone Cops were horrible and unprofessional. So much so, I had to call the Cook County Sheriff’s office to get a report done. Patient relations is a joke as well. They told me they don’t replace electronics, only dentures!
Luckily Mom was released and transferred to a rehab facility where she’s receiving proper treatment and care.
By l means STAY AWAY from this place. The life and belongings you save may be your own.response / report this review -

Their ER is terrible!! I was in a car accident after someone rammed me from behind. I sat in Loyola's ER lobby for SIX HOURS!!!! I sat there in terrible pain and in tears because I have pain down my back, shoulders, and neck!!! People who came after me were taking back for treatment including a woman who was giggling about having a "weepy eye"!- GIGGLING!!! while I was already sitting there for 5 and a half hours in pain, suffering, and in tears. If I could I would negative 5 stars!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ER!!!!

Brought my mother -In law there .On Nov 4 2017 . We arrive around 11 :40 am ,so far we are still here .At 7:30 the staff do not communicate with you at all !I had to go , and fine the nurse . Like a needle an a hay sack . Like look for her with ,a flashlight in the damn daytime . I rate them a zero! I am going to do a live on them . Oh I forgot . we are still waiting . Never come here ! You will do better by going to the county.

Very nice staff! With good attitude , very nice doctors as well. DR Lack was very nice! He will do surgery on my brother and we have faith in him. We trust him. Very nice nurses as well as radiology . Very good hospital , been to SINAI and very bad service. Loyola medicine is the best hospital I’ve been too so far!

This is a wonderful hospital! But the Dr.s and staff lack the compassion needed for patients and communication as well as cleanliness. My Sister n was there for 12 days after an accident and to get ahold of a Dr is nearly impossible! I would never recommend this place

This is the worst wait and unorganized hospital ever.. I HAD to drive 1.5 hours for this dr. Was told to check into ER. and we would start tests. I've now waited 2 hours with no tests. No Dr. No room. 49 people are in this waiting room. No paper towels bathrooms are gross and garbage everywhere. This is so sad!!

My dad hasn't been in the hospital for even 24 hours and wants to go home already from all the mistreatment he's receiving from the nurses! Extremely disappointment, and the nurse in charge, Jelyn, doesn't care about patient concerns. Oxana, is one of the worst nurses I've ever seen. My dad is a very patient person and for him to say he wants to go home, that means the situation is extremely bad.

The Dr. are ok, but the billing process is a nightmare! They send bills with no backup, charge way more than my insurance claims I owe for my portion of the claims and never respond to email inquires. If you call them on the phone you are placed on eternal hold regardless of the time of day, plus they make you listen to the worst possible hold music, they don't believe in silence or call backs. - Updated one year later, nothing has improved, I like my DR, but I may have to leave her because dealing with Loyola is a nightmare.

Emergency room is awful. Not only is the wait to see a doctor a nightmare, but no one even cares. There is NO human spirit here. Terrible, avoid at all costs.

Very, very poor. If I could give negative "stars" I would. Their record keeping is AWFUL. They have lost my records 5 times and didn't even apologize. They should change their tag line to we also bash the human spirit. If I had a choice I'd NEVER go there for anything not even a paper cut .

I am a recent transplant patient of Loyola and I will tell everyone the Doctor & Nursing staff is wonderful. They are very attentive to the patients need. Very good experience with all the ancillary staff also.

This hospital has terrible staff my husband has been here for 3 weeks and they CONSTANTLY takes their time with EVERYTHING!! He hasn't been washed up at all they are 2hrs late on giving out meds. Dietary sucks they are always forgetting stuff. Nurse staff is EXTREMELY rude to patients as well as family. Cannot wait for him to leave wouldn't recommend this place to a helpless rodent!! If half a star was a option boy!!!!!!!!

It's sad to be at the emergency room but to see doc. Ignoring this old sick man. Broke my heart. The wait it's long in the emergency rom. But once you are inside the nurse are great as well as the doctors and all the staff!

This is suppose to be a renowned hospital and I have witnessed several people that I have seen have been here for over 7 hours me included. I wouldn't bring my dog to this hospital he probably would die before he was serviced.
