My parents met during WWII while working at the Remington Arms Munitions Plant in Lowell, MA. 100 years earlier, Lowell was a fabric manufacturing center. Many of these old factories have been restored and are part of the National Historic Reserve. Others have become housing and retail establishments. Visiting Lowell as a side trip to our Boston adventure was awesome!

So much to see and do in this first of its kind inner city National Park. Lowell lead the way for several others that now exist. The visitor center includes free parking with validation. This National Park has several non contingent sites throughout the City. Also well known for its February Vacation week of loads of free kids activities.

one of my "go to" places for spur of the moment activities. Great hands on museums to take the kids or yourself, canal rides, trolley rides (free), parking garages, plenty of places to eat from fast food to ethnic eats to higher end restaurants. Gorgeous River Walk with picnic area behind Tsongas Arena, places to bike or walk safely, plenty of little parks, Folk Festival, Winter Festival with Soup Contest, Many different festivals and celebrations up to and including Christmas Lighting ceremony and Santa Parade!! HIGHLY recommend!!

One of the best run Urban National Parks in the system. With so many tours, lectures and knowledgeable Park Rangers, its always a pleasure to talk to them. They offer tours of the old cotton mills, rides on a canal boat barge and rides on the historical open air trolley. Very easy to spend an entire day here and wish there were more

The park is the 1st urban National Park in the country. The exhibits lend themselves to adults. The Downtown area is totally revitalized with great places to eat and many art galleries. Easy walking city, lovely little parks tucked into surprising spaces, plenty of street parking although the parking kiosks and numbered spaces is confusing. We visited Quilt Museum and Whistler Museum. Will go back for the National Historic Park sites.

Informative and inviting. Learn how Lowell became one of the largest textile cities in America at that time. From quilts to canals a glimpse of the people that built and put Lowell on the map.

A definite treasure in the city of Lowell. Lots of knowledge on the canal system, maps and canal tours. Excellent information about the mill history of Lowell and it's place in the industrial revolution and fabric industry.

Great place that all children should be taken on the various tours they offer.. Learn the history of your city along with the start of the industrial revolution.. Great fishing in the canals and local rivers as well

The Lowell historical park is a wonderful place to visit with family and friends or solo.
I myself have visited with family and we loved it so very much. We revisit whenever we have free time it's a great Parklots of history and the kids loved it so did we..

The entire downtown, with many other locations of Lowell is a National Park. You and your family will learn of the birth of Industry in the US and the history which flowed from that. Trolley, Boat rides, weaving floor at the Boot mills and a generally preserved 19th Century ambiance.

Excellent park that is a hidden jewel in the greater Boston area. Our family of 6 spent a long day here exploring the museums, eating a picnic at the park, and taking a free hour and half guided trolley tour. Make sure you go online to see what is open depending on the season. We can't wait to return and see all that we missed!
