Was only about 10 min away from Eastern Illinois University. Docent on hand at visitor center was attentive even tho we were the only two people therehe was also very knowledgeable. Center interesting and provides great context too. Worth a little time. Wish I could l've visited during their interactive immersive experience season when they reinacte and recreate the two styles of farm lifeplus it's just a lovely peaceful state park in winter.
Seemed to be closed when we went, but we were still able to walk around the grounds a bit. It looked like there was some sort of kids camp going on at the time? No signage and nobody around to tell us what was going on and what the place was. Could be way better, but still wasn't horrible.
Love the history there. Great for families. Had success bass fishing in their pond.
This is one of the best state historic sites in Illinois. They are the only ones to have live animals! They also have a great friends group sponsors a lot of wonderful programs. Well worth the visit.
It is very quite and nice nothing much to do here other then to see some out buildings on how it use to be back in the day. Actual Lincoln himself has never been to this farm directly even though family lived here. Small nice simple gift shop. If your in the area not so bad to visit but to make a trip out of no where from a distance maybe not so worth it then
Great family stop! A living historic farm with actors in 1840s wear. Lots of photo opps. We saw sheep and a cow. Has a free walk through museum. All of it set up to be educational and family friendly. Great gift shop!
Good historic site, but needs more staff and funding.
A very cool historical stop!
Went there when it was closed, the grounds keeper let us inside the cabin to look around. Neat place. So much history.
They were in the midst of rebuilding and repairing several buildings when I visited. Still, the grounds, the goats and the actors were all charming and quaint.
Very nice place to check out. There was a lot more here than I thought there would be. I saw it was only 4 miles out of my way and I am very happy I stopped. I don't think you could spend a whole day here, but a couple of hours would be a good estimate.
