This place is a joke. Unorganized. Unprofessional. More along the lines of a relapse center then rehah.

This place changed my life! The fellowship is amazing, the meetings are amazing, and people even come from the outside to the AA/NA meetings and give praise to the place. Yes, it is COED and the less serious addicts do flirt with the more attractive females, but that's anywhere you place young men or MEN in General!
I have to say I came here once back in Feb 2017, and relapsed after months of sobriety. I was clean for 6 years before my Jan 2017 relapse. The facility rules and regulations have changed so much it was like a different world! New CEO has doors locked at 10pm, Lights Out at 11pm, and the females and males are not allowed to spend much time together without being reprimanded. I agreed with everything this place is trying to do, which helps weed out the less serious people that come here on their PARENTS dime and do not care anything about recovery. One patient had brought in pills and was falling asleep during classes, her room was searched and the substance found, she was kicked out immediately and cops were called. These people CARE! They can't catch all the BS that comes through the door! The jail I came from had drugs for instance!
It's YOUR CHOICE whether you tell your counselor you want to leave on Methadone or Subutex Maintenance, if your kid or spouse tells you that they were put on it unknowingly or pressured, they are lying! The counselors DO NOT encourage Maintenance, they all want to see you clean! Most counselors were gone, but Trish and Casey were still there and they are great. Lauren, Angie, Jennifer, Tina, Rhonda and Lisa are all amazing techs! They are basically the OFFICERS who keep you straight, check in on you, do your BP tests and make sure you abide by the rules. They don't get paid enough in the first place!!
I wish I could tell you that this place has the cure for all of your addiction problems, but the truth is this facility knows about your problem(s) and deals with them everyday! The problem isn't the facility, it's the people who want all the ATTENTION and make it all about THEM because addicts are selfish people, I've been one for over 10 years! The difference now is, I can admit to myself and to others the exact nature of my wrongs. Thank you Galax for putting up with the nonsense and bad reviews from unworthy people who believe the petty lies of their "perfect" children.

A family member received treatment here. If you are really ready to make a change and embrace the process it is awesome. Staff are caring and knowledgeable. They have enough clinical support to address dual diagnosis. The environment has a positive vibe and the food is good! The family sessions on visiting day have been helpful to me. I have seen comments about drugs use thereIf you still want to use you will find drugs anywhere that is not a lock down facility. If you are ready to do what it takes for a new life the staff will help you.

I sold my car to pay for this place. They left me to die during a horrible detox and I had to go to the ER twice bc I guess being malnurioused and dehydrated at the first er visit didn't make then check on me more or at all and I had a phycotic episode and was institutionalize. When I was let go from the psyc ward I had to come back and get my things from galax and no one would talk to me or look me in the eyes. I have PTSD from this place! They turned my family against me (saying I was a spoiled brat, but even if that was the case they should have united us instead of making me feel totally alone ) even though I paid to go there with my own money. I tried to get some back but they said "just sue us". My counselor was very pregnant and so mean and cruel. She made me come to groups while I was vomiting and called me a drama queen. I wanted to kick her in the stomach and I've never felt hate like that before or since. ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY! THE DR OWNS EVERY METHADONE CLINIC WITHIN AN HOUR OF GALAX. IF U CANT AFFORD METHADONE MATANAINCE OR DONT LIVD ARPUND THERE THEY WILL LEAVE YOU IN A ROOM TO DIE BC UR NOT A DOLLAR SIGN YO THEM. LOTS OF SEX AND DRUGS HERE TOO!! Unlike anywhere else I've ever been for treatment. It's awful in every way but the food.

This place has drugs, I was told from my ex husband. Who is now passed away. And one of my friends just went there and had a really bad seizure, so bad that he ended up in the hospital, with almost brain damage. But he is pulling through and showing signs of memory, so we are very grateful for that. But if he had that bad of a seizure, under medical carehmmm??? DO NOT GO HERE, IT IS FOR YOUR BEST BENEFIT!

This place is a scam to take your money. They are all about taking your money and not about helping your loved one. They even admitted that they never did any of the drug tests that they told us they were doing. They keep telling us we owed more money even after admitting they did nothing, but would never show us a bill explaining what the charges were for and what insurance had paid.

If you truly care about yourself or your loved then you should go through any lengths to no go here. Their success rate is non existent and the medical staff might find you if you OD after getting drugs from the guys who hang out front, but that's if they care that day. I found success after going to another rehab immediately following this one. Please do your research, after all this is your life at risk. This just happens to be a place that is in it for the money and not your welfare. I attended several years ago and remained sober and clean after going elsewhere. I am honestly shocked that this place has not been shut down after years of complaints to the state.

This place is a joke. An expensive joke. After sending an individual here for 15 days to safely detox, he was sent home on 40 mg of methadone. The closest clinic being at least an hour away, not to mention he would have to go daily is too much for even the healthiest person to manage. SERIOUSLY?! Who the hell can afford to travel and the medication after spending thousands of dollars on this substance abuse rehab!? Swapping an illegal drug for one pharmaceutical companies and the government can make money off of is ridiculous! Please research detox and treatment centers before sending your loved ones here. He is home and still has a $100/day habit. THANKS LIFE CENTER OF GALAX! I pray that someone has enough money to close the doors on this place in the near future! How it has not been done yet, is beyond me after reading some of these reviews!

You get out of it what you put into it. My husband needed help and he got it at this facility. I work at a jail and I know that people improve when they are really committed to improving, and no one and no program can do it for them. There will be people at any of these facilities who see the negative because they are looking through negativity. Then there are people who really want to get well, and this facility makes it possible. I am grateful to them.

Extremely suprised this place is still up and running. Only treatment this side of the Mississippi to offer "maintenance" aka staying on a narcotic (methadone, subutex) which is only supposed to be used for detox, for your entire stay, and then they'll help set you up with a clinic afterwards, this only keeps your addiction alive and well. That alone should say it all. The building is disgusting, the outside premises are disgusting, the staff are truly a bunch of uneducated, uncaring, unethical, people. Whom I guarantee couldn't land a job at any real treatment Center. They all seem to hate their jobs and in turn misery loves company, they take it out on the patients. It's out in the middle of nowhere, which I contribute to them still able to run a place like this, but it will be caught onto and shut down sooner or later. If you need treatment, please, go somewhere else. Do your research.

Worst place I've ever been. People cooking down OxyContin and shoot it up. Women giving oral sex for 20 bucks to buy the needle and the OxyContin pills to shoot up. Food or stuff I've ever tried to eat. Staff was the most untrained people I've ever met. Once that farmer in the wheelchair we could actually walk just too lazy so use the wheelchair so I could use the elevator. A counselor called crash that in my opinion never work the steps. Didn't know nothing about the steps and love to tell the story about his life in front of the class. Need to be shut down and turned into a farmers market

My name is Mark Vance. I was there last year for alcohol. I was there for 30 days. I needed help and they gave me help. The facility was clean and the staff was excellent. I went to every class and had notes from every class.my coubselor was great. And I would recommend this facility to anyone. The food was excellent.
I relapsed and now am starting over with the 12 steps. Thank you life center of Galax for giving me the strength and tools I need to continue with my life. You have to progress not recess. Thank You.

They don't listen to you. Please if youre thinking of going here find somewhere else! If you have a small problem yea go ahead but if youre seriously sick they will let you suffer and ignore everything you say. If you have the money that's the exception. If you pay and youre not sent there for detox then im sure it'll be nice, money talks there. Plus they have a "great" 5 day detox program lol right like 5 days is going to fix years of abuse.
