There are two negative reviews here that must have been written by people who went to another theater and didn't realize it. This is a very large place with balconies and leather seats. And the screen is one of those immense wide screens that is common only in the best theaters. Going into the Leavit is like going back in time, and it's one of the most charming theaters I've ever been to.
Awesome! An old movie (20s?). The balcony has some old movie projection, and --even better-- a bar! We so a 1916 silent film with live accompaniment.
Interesting venue. Decent bar, the music wasn't the best.
It's old school But very nice has a bar also right in the movie room. That I have Never seen.. Awesome.
The lounge remodel is something you don't want to miss! Go for a movie, stay for a drink!
This place recently opened as an after-hours bar (and normal hours movie theater) and it is absolutely incredible! A must-visit for anyone lucky enough to be visiting Ogunquit! Thursday nights are Euro nights! Max is wonderful! Pay them a visit and you won't be disappointed!
I haven't been in quite awhile but this very old town theater is a step back in time yet fun. You buy your tickets at the booth outside walk to a small concession stand on the side then up the ramp and you are in the theater. Nothing fancy here with wooden seats and a hanging screen over the stage.
It is great! Classic theater, with nice old leather seats, its just fabulipous
We attended the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and boy were we sorry for choosing this theatre to see it in. Our experience at this movie theater was so bad, we went across the border into NH to see the movie at 3:15am at Regal cinemas in Newington NH. We should have gone there in the first place. Where do I start with how bad Leavitt Theater is. I went there with my girlfriend and her son, and it was a bad experience right fromt the start. First of all if you go online and look at their website, it is deceiving. The interior picture of the theatre does not look like what we sat in last night. The website itself doesnt' say much and once you get to the theater you are NOT pleasantly surprised! They charged us 8.50 for adults and 5.50 for kids, and it was not worth it. On here there is a review that says they have a great sound system. They don't! Half the time I spent trying to listen over the conversations around me, because their sounds system consisted of two speakers at the front of the stage! The seats were lousy, old and uncomfortable. The whole experience was the worst. Do not go here!
This place is incredible! When you go to Ogunquit, don't miss the Leavitt Theatre at the north end of downtown. It's a huge, beautiful, classic, summer movie theatre, built in 1923 that shows first run movies that change every few nights in the summer and fall. Great sound system and real butter on the popcorn! Love it!
