I have not camped here, I have only spent an hour here so far, but cannot wait to go back. I parked in the lot by the amphitheatre and covered picnic area, then took the trail down to the beach area. I was stunned by the beauty I saw! The blue water, the beautiful rock formations, the changing leaves on the trees (I came here in October). I felt like I was standing in a postcard! I only saw three other people the hour I was here. It made me want to explore the other areas of this park, one hour wasn't even enough time for the small area I saw. Very clean, very relaxing, stunning beauty.

Wonderful camping experience! If you're not from the area and are thinking of camping here, also check out the waterfront in Bellingham itself, it complements the mountain in a way that's hard to describe!

Sites aren't very private, raccoons are abundant. It is a beautiful park but the train is kinda annoying. There is no cell service. The staff is awesome though!

Awesome place for camping. Only issue could be the noise of trains. However we did not feel disturbed by it while we were asleep. There is a beach which is very quite and secluded. Well maintained.

Worst campground I have ever stayed at! Before staying here you need to ask yourself two questions- 1. Do you like Freight Trains? And 2. Do you like to sleep?
Our campsite (as well as all the other campsites at Larrabee) was no more than 300 ft off of the train tracks. We endured a sleepless night here with freight trains filled to the brim with coal, passing through the campground 2 times per hour, every hour, all night long. The happy train engineers laying long on the horn as they went.
We also discovered that there appears to be a homeless population which actually lives at the park after hours. They start showing up at around 10pm after the rangers have gone home, rolling through the park in old rusted out cars and campers. Then they leave before 8am so they miss the rangers and don't have to pay. This part actually would'nt bother me so much except that they made a lot of noise late into the night.
The bottom line? Skip this one, unless you hate yourself and the people you're with.response / report this review -

Beautiful park with rugged PNW views. The campgrounds here are great too! Just be aware that a rail passes through the park so you will hear trains at night.

This was a comedy of errors and a terrible place to place a campground. The area itself is beautiful with views and lovely walks, but to camp here was by far the biggest mistake of camping history. The train went every hour all day and ALL night. It was like a 4 minute alarm clock every hour with the loudest train horn blaring I've ever heard - enough to wake the dead. Sleeping was out of the question.
Not only this but the campsites have no privacy - ours backed onto a parking lot where we had a generous view of the highway on one side, a view of all the people walking through our site to get to the parking lot on another, and best of all, was closest in proximity to the train but wait, shared space with the dump site so every so often we were blessed with the smell of dumped excrement. That was a lovely topping to our dinner, before we finally decided to cut our losses and leave early.
The beach is small but water nice - not worth the visit if you ask me though and certainly NEVER camp here.response / report this review -

Has a smallish beach with lovely views and interesting geology. There are also well-maintained trails through the park -- they're easy and appropriate for kids. Beautiful place to take a walk and take in views of the San Juan Islands and the Salish Sea. Up by the parking area there's grassy park with picnic area. Plenty of parking.

The park and the trails are nice, but don't stay at the campground unless you can sleep through some pretty loud trains.

Such a pretty park. Easy trails and fun rocks to climb on. Cool beach as well. Lots of picnic areas and a playground and stage.
