This is one of my favorite hidden gems in Michigan. I have been coming here off and on since 1993 and it continues to deliver! With the lake water level up well above it's average, the beach has been shortened. The creek that flows into the lake gives little kids a safe place to play in the water as it forms a natural splash park (and the water is generally warmer). Just watch out for leeches in the creek. The camp sites are large with plenty of separation space between them. There is excellent shade here and the bathrooms have improved from what they used to be. I think the Violet and Oak loops still have pit toilets. The Orchid loop has updated flush toilets and sinks. There are plenty of biking and hiking trails along with a trail that runs along the ridge of the dunes. We'll be back soon!

The trails are very secluded try to find a ranger for a map because you might get lost and most of them are on face of the hill that runs along the beach. The beach is amazing too.

Beautiful campground, relatively secluded from nearby towns. The two loops we stayed in had an onsite manager living in one of the campsites. Both were very friendly and worked with us to find a campsite when someone was still occupying our site. Wood and ice are for sale at their site for reasonable prices. Bathrooms in Orchid are flush toilet (one stall only) and several spigots per loop provide drinking water. No showers.
There was sufficient space between sites to provide privacy. On our two nights we had no issues with rowdy neighbors. Lots of families with small children.
The beach is a short walk from your site. Each night we heard a different owl. Never had problems with raccoons or the supposed bears nearby.

Campsites are kept very clean by friendly local managers. Plumbed bathrooms are within walking distance of every site, as well as water spigots and dumpsters. The beach is a convenient walk away from campsites or has its own parking for $5 a day, which you may opt for if you have multiple children. The sites were a little close together for my liking, but the rest of my party was not bothered by this. We will stay here again.
