Small oasis with river access (Willow Beach) located 3.9 miles from the main highway. Rocky shores with a few picnic tables available to those lucky enough to get there early. Recommend a visit to the fish hatchery at the end of the road at Willow Beach.

We did a trash clean up. This trash, plastic, and fishing line kills wildlife. Please pick up after yourself. It matters to the animal families. Thank you. Have a great time at Lake Mead.

If you are traveling to or from Vegas from the North, please take this hour long sideroute on Highway 167, it's so worth it. You think Vegas is just this bare desert wasteland, but right next door is the most beautiful red rocks. Not Utah Beautiful, but certainly worth the drive. Yes, if you actually have a lot more time, do hit the Valley of Fire State Park. But just along the road is some really beautiful sights and picnic areas.

I was in a giant hurry to get to Mesa, AZ when my GPS said to detour because of a wreck on the 515 near Henderson. UGHCome to find out (at the damn dam gate, lol) it was taking me to this NP and it was going to cost me 20 bucks just to drive through or turn around costing me 2 or more hours of driving. The lady at the toll booth was totally awesome, really totally awesome. As she was helping me she asked if I was a veteran, I am, and said I was a disabled veteran. She got a big smile then handed me a form and said initial, here, here, here and sign here and don't the back of this card. So I did! She said there ya go. This card is a free lifetime pass to any NP. MADE MY DAY! As I drove through the park I couldn't help but to slow down and calm down. I even stopped in a few places to take pictures. Unheard of for me! I'm so glad I got to see this gorgeous park and unwind. I will be definitely returning time and again, for some quality outdoor time.

Amazing place! I went there with my family over Thanksgiving break and had so much fun! Very informational visitor center and signs. We went on the railroad trail and it was all so great! I brought my dog and he had a blast as well! The railroad trail took you through tunnels and showed you great views of the lake! Someone in our party was pregnant and she could do it well. Overall, great time spent with family and definitely going back!

Wow this place has changed! I actually stopped going here quite a few years ago because of the crowds, disgusting water, excessive boats, litterI went back last weekend & was shocked. Since the water levels are down so much they've had to shut down many of the marinas & amenities, limiting boat launching severely. They also raised the price of entry to $20/ vehicle. This has resulted in a very positive environment change. Waaaay less people, didn't see even 1 jet ski or houseboat, almost zero trash around, the water was super clean and clear, no ghetto blasters competing for loudness levels. It was beautiful, serene, clean, calm, & safe. Fish were biting faster than you could reel them in, saw multiple species of beautiful birds and wildlife, and was able to kayak around safely without fear of being run over by a drunk boater. Absolutely great experience.

Absolutely breathtaking. Loved the raft ride and views of two states along the river. Never knew that there were thermal springs along the Colorado River. Big horn sheep were impressive.

We had a lot of fun as a family here. You will need to bring your own shade and food. We had a few small inflatable row boats and had so much fun. The water temp was perfect and it was so peaceful and quiet here. Can't wait to go back!

This is a great stop just before the Hoover dam. Drop in here first to enjoy the view and chat with the friendly rangers. They'll tell you the best place to view the dam (Tillman bridge) and give you advice on visiting the dam area (ha!). They can also answer any other questions you might have. If you need a gift or postcards then they have those too in the surprisingly well stocked gift shop. Skip the dam visitors center (ha!) and the dam itself. Beat the crowds / parking fees and visit this visitors center instead. Then go to the Tillman Bridge for an awesome view of Hoover dam. Be the smart traveler!

Had a great time at Lake Mead and the Hoover dam. We took the full tour of the Hoover dam and enjoyed it. Very impressive. Tour did seem a bit short and it would be nice if they visited more than just 4 areas over the course of an hour.

This place is like going to a different place and not like anything else in Las Vegas. You can have a good time in the water off shore or in a boat and they have good fishing too.

It's a stunning area with lots to do. I was just passing through, so I couldn't get on the water, but we did camp near it. There's tons of hiking and even just driving through is fun. We also saw many desert animals while we were here. I would have loved to get on a boat and go into some of the coves and near the cliffs I could see.

The toughest part of recreating around Lake Mead is the lack of amenities. Trails may just start from unmarked dirt parking lots, and other areas far away from the nearest water source. The Lake is pretty popular, but there are lots of cool hikes and overlooking areas on all sides. Always bring extra water!

Fantastic lake for swimming! I was lucky to have participated in the last Slam the Dam Open Water swim event (featuring a 1.2 mile, 2.4 mile, and 8 kilometer swim), which was held in October of 2012. The following year the event was cancelled due to National Park Service budget cutbacks. Hopefully, this great event can be held again in the near future!
