This is a great park and is beautiful to walk/hike through. They had some historical happenings which was cool. The bathrooms are clean. Use them before you go because there's no Porta Potties. And remember if the trail you're taking says 4 miles It's 4 miles there but 8 miles round tripFYI. Bring water. The visitor center is museum-like and well kept. You should visit and if you didn't know about this battle, it's good information and brings meaning and thought while hiking the trailsknowing what happened there where you're walking.

Great short (6 miles=3miles each way) trails! A little bit of topography which was refreshingly nice. The trails are also super marked! Won't get lost out there, that's for sure. The staff at the visitor center is super nice, bathrooms are nice and clean. AND the museum is super cool!
Came here for my Wildland Firefighter Course and just had to come back!

A hidden gem - everyone in Charlotte should go. Fantastic visitor center/museum complete with movie, which is a must -do. Then take the actual trail described and relive the battle from station to station till you reach the summit. Well maintained, with rangers and docents available for questions. Wonderful job by the park service. Perfect for a beautiful day.

Went on a tour with one of the rangers. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the park, which was something I found very helpful. Awesome job with the improved paths. The gift shop could use something more, but the mini theater is great. Parking is great, and it will work well for large vehicles, there is a separate entry and exit in a loop. Pulling through will be a piece of cake. Tour bus (very large) made it easily.

Kings mountain is a great place to learn about this revolutionary battle, and It's only a 40 min drive from Charlotte. The staff is very knowledgeable about the battle and very helpful with what areas to see. They have good indoor exhibits that give a good description of the life, the events and the battle it's self. There is a nice display that lights up the different parts of the battlefield as the timeline is narrated.

There is a 1.5 mile trail around the battlefield that is made of recycled rubber, and easy to walk on. They have a guided tour that you dial into from the cell phone, and multiple displays around the trail. The site is well maintained and a beautiful walk.

Great place to learn about a key part of American history!

A must see for your to do list . Perfect for history buffs . A lot of up hill and down on the trail but very smooth paved path . The monuments are amazing . Don't miss this one .

There's a movie about the battle, made by the History Channel, that gives a lot of interesting info. While walking the battleground trail, you can receive info about points of interest on your smart phone.

Step one: Bought an America the Beautiful Senior Citizen Federal Parks Pass. Easy to do and a BARGAIN at $10 for myself and 3 others in my car. Road trips galore in the future for this multigenerational family! We visited late in the day and were here as a follow-up to a school trip. Looking forward to returning next week. The Rangers were welcoming and very informativeleft us wanting more!

The significance of this battle of Kings Mountain is that early america came very close becoming a British society. We home school and I came away amazed at the resolve of a people to protect their families and property all based on a threat of a military officer to do the locals harm .I will definitely study this more and recommend this to adults and anyone with children,

Fun trip every time, even if nothings going on. Lots of things to see on the main trail. They do fun programs, have a living history farm, many camp sites, a nice museum, etc.

Nice national park. The visitor's center is nice with a small museum and 40min or so video about the park and battle that took place. The restrooms are clean and the hiking trails are well kept. The visitors center is closed on Sundays, not sure about the trails though.

The park is beautiful and informative with nice walking trails and informational boards about the battle that occurred at Kings Mountain. The staff were friendly and helpful - the movie usually shows at set times but my grandmother and I asked to see it and they made an announcement and started it up for us. I will be returning in the future to explore more of the trails.

Beautiful scenery in a place that was arguably the turning point to the outcome of the Revolutionary War. Courteous and helpful staff. Displays and museum do a decent job of explaining the site and setting the mood. from what little we saw of the trails they looked to be well worth exploring. Would like to return for a more in depth look.

Rude staff, nice land. One star for help/printed materials re: the park trails. Four stars for the path (minus a star because the blazes were irregular, on fallen trees or too far apart).
Signage is bad. I'm not a particularly good navigator but can get around if there are maps to be had. Looked at some of the posted maps and there was nothing to take with on my hike. Had to go to the "Trading Post" to ask. Person at the desk took one look at my leashed dog and said, "NO DOGS". I understand but when I asked for a map, he didn't even come around the desk to give it to me. Instead, he just stood there trying to hand it to me across the width of the store. So I had to ask if I could bring the dog in to receive the map. This caused a big sigh as he had to haul his hide around the desk to give the map to me. This behavior might have been forgivable if there was ANYONE else around but this guy was literally staring at nothing when I opened the door. Also might have been forgivable if he was afraid of dogs, which he clearly wasn't since he came around the desk instead of keeping it between himself and my tethered animal.
The hike was good (blue trail) but I got twisted around a couple of times because the blazes were not visible. I found more than a couple on trees that were fallen and because there was irregular distance between blazes got "lost" a couple of times as I thought I was following a path that wasn't my path.
The trail head wasn't particularly visible until I got down next to the dam.
All in all, good hike, bad taste of the park generally.

The uphill fight for American independence turned in the Patriot's favor here proving freedom is worth fighting for. Walk in the very place where history was made. Beautiful trails and interpretation and monuments.

Enjoyed the activities commemorating the anniversary of the battle that changed the tide of the revolution.
The walking path is very nice as you are walking through the very woods the patriots were fighting from.
I think I like this site a little more than Ninety Six. I'll be making this an annual event.
If you come, bring a rock to leave on Ferguson's grave.
