Cons:
-The overwhelming majority of the students here are some of the most disrespectful people you'll ever meet. Even some of the seniors are pretty immature. I've been to 4 colleges. The disrespectful 19 year olds made up the majority in all of them. But here it's on a much higher level.
-Meal plans here are outright ridiculous. For what you're getting, it's pretty ridiculous. The food isn't so great. It could be a lot better, but if you're hungry enough it will get the job done.
-If you're gonna shop for some Keene State College swag at the bookstore, be prepared to have *at least* $150 on you. I've seen a simple Keene State Owls t-shirt go for as much as $65. I seen simple wallets go for as much as $30. And I seen hoodies go for $80+.
-Plenty of drinking. I mean, LOTS of drinking. While this accounts for any major college, here it's pretty bad if you factor in the amount of students here. If you're gonna send your child off to any college, make sure you have a talk with them about alcohol consumption.
-Dorms are super overpriced. I mean, everything is super overpriced because you're in college. If you're gonna come in as a transfer student, I recommend living off campus. There are plenty of off campus housing options available. Talk with the office of res-life if you wanna know more.
-Not a lot of job opportunities here. If you plan on working on campus while going to school here, don't hold your breath. There's too many students and not enough work. Even if you're super professional, you'll most likely be hard pressed finding work here. If you're gonna work while going to college, you'll have better luck with a job off campus.
Pros:
-Staff are some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet. Sure, there's always that terrible professor here and there but 9/10 times the professors are super amazing people. They won't only be your professor, they'll be your friend if you get on their good side (which is not hard to do).
-If you're unsure of what major you wanna go into, but you wanna go here, choose Occupational Safety. Great professors, great knowledge and a lot of jobs opening up in this field. You'll get a good return on investment if you choose that major.
-Financial aid will pay for all your tuition here. It's called the granite guarantee. If you apply for financial aid here, they will pay for all of your tuition. Of course, you will have to pay it back, but you don't have to necessarily worry about not being able to afford it.
-Plenty of clubs and activities where you can meet people who wanna do something else besides drink and party all the time. While I did state that there are too many jerks here, that just makes you appreciate the good people more. When you do meet them, they will change your life. The people here are either too nice or they don't care at all. While a lot of people make me wonder how anyone could be so careless, there are a bunch of people here make me wonder how someone could be so nice. Like REALLY generous. You don't even expect such acts of kindness and you feel like you don't even deserve it.
-Plenty of off campus resources for things you can do.
-If you have a disability, I recommend hooking up with the Office of Disability Services. They are super nice people and will do all they can to help you.
The reason I gave this school 3 stars is because as I said, there are plenty of people who will make you think about leaving for another campus. Everything is a popularity contest here. The more introverted you are, the harder time succeeding here, unfortunately. But if you can break the ice with a few good people, you'll do just fine.
I can't say whether or not I'd recommend this school. I highly suggest scheduling a tour of the campus here so you can see for yourself. Every person will take this place and its culture differently. It's not for everyone. So I encourage you to come see for yourself.response / report this review -

I graduated in 2008 with a B.A. Not the best institution in the state. I’ve read some of the recent comments and it appears as though people are still bitterly commenting on the problems many had back when I attended. Parking difficulties, party-school image/ environment, and poor professor-student relationships. Step up your game Keene State.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Dr Feres ruined my education. Not only was she the hardest professor I had, but she also will only pass guys that she has sex with in her office. She gave my ex boyfriend adderall. Dr feres teaches more outside of her classroom then inside.

Great college overall. I'm attending now (Occupational Safety), and the classes are good. Most of the professors are very friendly. Normally I would give this 5 stars but the only problem is, like the people state, it is a huge party school and unfortunately the kids can be very annoying for an older guy like me (I'm 25 years old). When you live here, there is no such thing as peace and quiet. Usually the kids are really drunk (I've seen 18 year olds get driven away in an ambulance because they got too drunk and nearly died). There are repercussions for those people and a lot of times, they don't care.
Other than that, it's a great college. Definitely the best one in the state and for what you pay in tuition it's really a no brainer, IMO. Overall great place.response / report this review -

Keene State is a great value. Located on a truly beautiful campus, it offers an abundance of natural beauty. The majority of students are extremely kind and friendly. People here are down to earth and real. I will consider attending Keene State if I decide to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in the future.

My sister is thinking of attending this school but we are no longer interested. The person that they met with in admissions was VERY rude to her and they were putting my sister down. They did not say anything nice about my sisters artwork nor toward the fact that we have published a poetry book (which is a huge accomplishment, thank you very much) The admisisons counselor was making fun of my sister's learning challenge and was making my sister feel very small compared to this woman's personality i.e. basically saying I'm better than you and what do YOU have to show for it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL. We thought this school was a good choice for my sister but after this experience, forget it. I will be calling Keene and I will complain about this incident. How dare this woman put my sister down and make fun of her. how DARE she. Do not even bother with this school. If they are going to treat potential students as though they are meaningless pieces of trash, do not even bother visiting the campus. I am absolutely horrified that this happened. Keene should be aware of how rude and idiotic their admisisons staff representatives are. Do I honestly have to leave even a star? I wouldn't even give this school ONE star i WILL call this school and I WILL let them know how inhuman this person was toward a potential student. What a great way to decrease your income, Keene. Hire rude obnoxious little twits to work with potential students. I am appalled. MY SISTER WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THIS SCHOOL.

As i can see the campus is great, my friends siblings love it there. But as far as those giving their two cents about the pumpkin fest, i disagree you cant just comment to bash on ALL KSC students when not ALL of them attended that party that happened and ruined the chance of keene having the pumpkin fest for the next couple years. Most of the people that attended that party were people out of state whom smashed cars of students that went to KSC and threatened police on scene. So no it was not everyone from KSC that should be ashamed. Also those of KSC students that attended the party it is at there own cost what they do, how many parties they attend or what they do at college. Whether they are trying to get a bachelor degree for example or just party the whole time. There is also Cheshire Fair pumpkin fest that has gone on this year and last. Keene State College is a great college, close to home for most of us.

Never felt like teachers didn't know me. Class sizes are great, campus environment is great. Everyone I've met has made a lasting impression. Lots of on campus job opportunities.

Keene State is a "right sized" college. My Daughter loves it. It has as many course offering as she could wish for. The campus is new and well built, with quiet dorms (cinder block, not sheet rock).It may have a reputation as a party school, but from what Iv'e seen, students are serious and very courteous.. It does have a high number of commuter students, but the on campus life is good and clean. (only your child will know for sure). Regardless of what you may have heard, academics are rigorous, and an excellent education is guaranteed to all that apply themselves.
