A beautiful theatre. We've come here for a couple of concerts. Always were treated very well. Seats have good views and are comfortable.

An impressive restoration of a 1020s gem. One of only a handful of John Eberson's classic "atmospheric" show places left in the Great Lakes region. Theater still has working pipe organ. Good acoustics and great sight lines make any show here an enjoyable experience.

We went to see Jeff Daniels here this weekend. The show was great and the facility was fine.

Our problem occurred when a woman in the row ahead of us vomited all over the floor. Now, I don't hold the theater responsible for her not handling her alcohol, but the way it was handled was unacceptable.

They initially put the sawdust stuff on. Cool, it was during the set, no issues. But then they mopped. With no cleaner. During intermission, they mopped again. Judging by the smell, it was not only with no cleaner, but I don't think they rinsed the mop. We had been in the 3rd row. We, along with several other people, had to walk away during the intermission because the smell was unbearable after the second mopping. We ended up asking an usher for another place to sit. We ended up in the last row after paying for 3rd row tickets.

As an establishment that serves alcohol, being so inept at dealing with people who have been blatantly overserved is unacceptable. What a waste of money to pay for seats we only used for maybe an hour.

This place was awesome! I loved all the detail work! It was beautiful! The stars in the ceiling were so cool! My 6 year old son could not get enough he wanted to explore Everything! Would definitely go here again!

We have been to two concerts here, and I can honestly say it is well worth the drive (we live on the east side of the state). The setting is eclectic yet intimate, given that you are in a 1920s movie palace; and the acoustics are warm and wonderful. Those in charge of the theater clearly care about its heritage and historic importance.

Stupid chick wouldn't stop talking in the seat behind me just before Conor oberst hit the stage. One of th security guards seen my displeasure and promptly asked me if the people behind me were too loud. After telling him yes they were he told me he was on it and hovered over them the whole show. Finally I can hear. The place is beautiful and the security is tops. Recommended by me.

We went to the State Theatre last night to help celebrate its 90th birthday! Courtesy of Yelp, we got a backstage tour and learned much about the great safety and fire precautions, as well as the art, and the history of the theatre. It is one of only 15 Eberson atmospheric theatres left in the world! We've seen a few concerts here - it's so much fun. Don't dress warmly - there's no AC, and the theatre can get a bit hot. During intermission, walk around and look at all the artistic details - love!

Beautiful is an understatement! This place is historical elegance. The architecture, the decor, the ambience all direct from the glory days of theater. If you get the opportunity to take a tour of the building, do it! Did I mention it's also haunted?

First time going to the State and most definitely will be back. Kinda has the appearance of being a little run down but for someone like me it just gives me the feeling a lot of history has happened there. Little on the small side but never felt crowded, even after the show ended and everyone was trying to leave. Awesome venue.

Great place to see a show!! Needs a coat check though. Bummer waiting in line outside in the rain for a rock show and having to leave coat in your vehicle. Very helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere.
