Wow! This place is amazing! Staff and volunteers are all friendly and helpful. Don't shop, Save A Life and ADOPT your next best friend! They have many dogs, puppies, kittens, and cats of all sizes and color looking for their new home!! Remember when you adopt a pet, you are saving 2 livesthe one you adopted and the one taking its place! 💞

Love the new facility. Staff was very helpful, facility was clean and organized. I would adopt all of the pets if I could. I hope you'll go and adopt a special family member soon.

Love their new facility, it's amazing! Staff is always great. I really like that you can visit and interact with the cats. As someone who is restricted as to have many pets to have (apartment). The cat visiting rooms are so nice.

We got our dog from here. They do an awesome job at making sure that you and the dog fit well. They give you so much information about pets in general and everything they have on the pet you are looking to adopt. Their new facility is amazing. I highly recommend going here if you are in the market to add a furry friend to your family.

I love the new building. The new facility was amazing and a great place for homeless animals. They try to make it as comfortable for the animals as possible. They have little buckets on the doors for treats for the dogs so you can interact with them. Breaks my heart to see homeless animals, but makes me feel better knowing they are in good care.

Really clean and nice. Animals look well cared for. I went with a friend who thankfully decided not to get the dog, he's in ICU so he couldn't care for him. His deposit/payment (?) was returned to him. Definately if you want a pet go here. Wished I could have gotten an older cat there, but my kitty would of thrown a fit. lol

I used to love this place. Yesterday I went to pick up 2 kittens that lost their mama. The bill was $280.!!! For 2 kittens!!! Now hear me outwhen I brought the kittens in to turn them over, they said that if we took them home we wouldn't have to pay anything to get them fixed. Cool! I can handle that. Well you can imagine my surprise when they handed me the bill. So no, I don't think they're great anymore!

I have been trying to get an appointment for a couple days now for my cat. I adopted her from this facility over four years ago. I have been calling and calling and no one will answer the phones. On the two occasions where I heard someone pick up, they HUNG UP ON ME. As in they picked up the receiver and hung up on me. Are you kidding me? It's one thing to not have enough people to pick up the phones, but to hang up on people who want to make an appointment? What if it was an emergency and I needed to be seen that morning? I can only imagine how many desperate people looking out for the welfare of their pets have been hung up on because someone didn't feel like doing their job.

I STILL need to make an appointment and NO ONE WILL ANSWER.

JHS is great at keeping their facilities clean while under construction. I can't wait to see what the new building looks like when it's finished. All the staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and considerate too. Pets are also well taken care of!

Please go and check them out. My wife and I have two dogs from this shelter. Our first was a Lab/mix puppy. They corrected a hernia that was noticed during the spaying procedure and released to us a very healthy new best friend. Our second was an abbused 2yr old Cattledog/mix. He has been a challenge, but makes progress every day. It pains me to think where he was before he met us, or how exactly he received the scars on his body. However he knows he is safe with us, and we will not let anything bad happen to him. Please adopt don't shop! There are many beautiful dogs there that need your help.

I love this place! They do so much for the animals and community ❤ I foster with them and they are always helpful and NEVER rude to anyone no matter the situation. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. If your looking for a fur-ever family member or want to foster this is the place to go!

I have been trying to reach ANYBODY by telephone for going on four (4) weeks now. I have blankets, handmade quilts, dog and cat food, small pet beds, treats,and pet food dishes i wanted to bring to the facility as well as re-new my membership and make a donation to help fund the new facility being built. I only wanted information as to where to bring these items, as I know the facility is under construction and when would be a good time for me to do so! I now live off of 103rd Street on the west sideof Jacksonville, so it's pretty far for me to drive to Beach Blvd. I have called at least 4 times (probably more) and have left messages on your voice mailas of today, nobody has bothered to return my call! I am, therefore, bringing my money & items to the Clay County Safe Shelter instead! THEY ANSWER THEIR PHONES!!!!!!

Friendly staff who you can tell care deeply for the animals, even volunteers. The facilities are clean and the animals all look very happy. The staff is knowledgeable about each animal and their counseling process really gives you a great feel on whether or not the pet you chose is right for you. They microchip and spay/neuter the animals and give you a packet with all of their information. I love it.
