Jack Britt is most definitely the best school in Cumberland County. I've been to three different high schools for all three of my years so far, but the people and academics here are like the rest. This is not a school of choice if you are not an extremely promising student so don't get your hopes up on going here if you don't live in the district.
I am currently a student at jack Britt and I can say the academics are wonderful. Their focus however is so off when it comes to funding sports over arts and education. Some teachers are not there for your best interest. Problems go unsolved and bullying can be real. The academics are great though.
I graduated from Jack Britt in 2017 and the school itself is pretty okay. They'll help you when you need it but my senior year I noticed that a lot of the teachers and staff get an attitude for no reason. I stayed after school one time so my English teacher my senior year could critique my essay. Not only did she critique my essay but she also ended up critiquing my life, asking if my parents were forcing me to go to college and stuff like that (no they aren't). When I actually graduated high school and started the enrollment process into the university I want to go to, the university told me that they needed my final transcript to complete the enrollment process and to complete my financial aid. I called Jack Britt and the lady on the phone got such an attitude! I told her that my university is saying that they still don't have my final transcript and she says "Well I sent it out on June 22nd. I don't understand how they don't have it." I explained to her that they received a transcript, but that it wasn't my final one. The final transcript has to say "graduation date 6/9/2017" but the one Britt sent said "EXPECTED graduation date." She asked "did you call them?" I said that I emailed them and she responded back with "Well call them" and then she hung up. I stuck with emailing because calling really isn't going to make a difference in my opinion. About 2 weeks later, still no transcript in sight and I need my financial aid in order to pay my tuition which is due in about 1 week and a half. I go up to Jack Britt and the lady gets an attitude. "I sent it out on the 22nd. I sent it out the 22nd. All the transcripts got sent out on the 22nd. Come behind the desk, I have your transcript right here. You can look at it yourself." I looked at my transcript and it says "expected graduation date." I pointed it out and she said mine was the only one out of 500 graduates that still said that. She started printing off the correct transcript and asks "Do you want to mail it or do you want me to mail it?" I said that it doesn't matter, whichever way is more convenient. She yells "Well it's printing right now! I need an answer!" I said that she can mail it and she apologizes for the mix up and everything. A couple days later, still no transcript in sight. I'm tired of Britt messing around and not getting anything done. I'm not the only graduate who has had this problem either. I have until August 3rd to pay my tuition and I need my transcript in order to do so. It is currently July 21st. Because of Britt's "I don't care" attitude, I may not be able to go to my classes come August 21st. They don't care about their students at all. My university should've had my transcript by now unless Britt didn't send it out. I have mailed multiple things out to my university and they would receive it the next day so I don't understand why it's taking so long for my university to receive my transcript. So yeah, I wouldn't recommend Britt to anybody.
I am a student at Jack Britt High School and I have to say, horrible. I don't care if I think it's boring, I care about getting an education, but how can I get quality education with the possibility of getting written up. While 70% of the students are smoking weed in the bathroom, some people are getting written up for holding hands, and this was before the school day actually started. I understand the no cell phone policy for class, but in the morning and at lunch, why can we not use them? It isn't taking anyone away from the lessons it being a distraction, trust me I'm sure we all know how to find the hypotenuse of a triangle. I also dislike most of the administration, dress code after dress code, " Oh no you, see my shoulder? What a disgrace I am!" "Gasp! Not my knees!" I am honestly so sick and tired of it, I could go on for much longer, but I have to study things I never learned, for my exams.
Looks very nice and seems like a great school heard some many good things about this school can't wait till next year
Teachers genuinely care about their students success
As a parent of a child who goes to the school I am very disheartened by some of the services that are not provided to special education children. I have a big problem when you ask a teacher to do something as easily as making sure a student puts their homework in their planner because this is one of the challenging areas a student has and the answer I got was I have a hundred and fifty other students. Supposedly there's supposed to be an IEP teacher in the classes with my daughter so I don't understand what the issue is. Also they don't always follow the IEP. My daughter is supposed to be allowed an extra day if needed though I don't encourage it but her math teacher in 9th grade would not allow it. There for my daughter failed 9th grade math. If you are a student who excels in education then this school is for you but if you are a student who struggles with any area of Education parents beware because you will not get any assistance from any body including the principal or assistant. This school is very overrated. Before moving here, which by the way I did not move here due to military reasons, I did research and Jack Britt was one of the best schools in the area, or so I thought. Boy did I get egg in the face on that one. I just want to say that they are definitely not the best school in the area and unfortunately I don't know what school is. My suggestion is prior to move into an area make sure you do your research and read the comments, especially the low rated comments to see why people are not satisfied with a school.
This school is so overrated and I would not give it a star but there is no option fot unsatisfied. I also would not suggest this school to any parents. The administration have no common sense regarding safety and one of teachers have no manners, obnoxious and very disrespectful. I stopped by at lunch hour to pick up the shirt that I ordered on the 10th of September. I went to the office with my other son to let the administration know why I was there. They called someone to escort me to the right person. While talking with the ladies, I told them that my son wanted another shirt but was not sure exactly what he wanted. They asked what grade my son was then pointed me to the direction of where he was at. While looking for my son, a teacher Ms. Womble stood up from the table, hollering if she can help. I told her that I was looking for my son to buy him a school shirt. I was excited that someone was going to help. Instead she embarrassed me and my other son in front of over 1000 kids in the caferia telling me that I was not supposed to be there because I did not checked in and do not have a pass. I never felt so little in my life. I told her that I was at the office and they had someone escorted me to be back there. She yelled again, chasing me like I was a stray dog. I was so embarrassed when I left the cafeteria, I was almost in tears when when I got back in the office. I REQUESTED to speak with somebody. I was so humilited that when I talked with Mr. Pope, I almost burst in tears. But he seemed like he did not care either. Instead, he gave me the third degree speech policy about a pass understood but was not written anywhere in the office. Nevertheless, I was humiliated by Ms. WOMBLE and scolded by Mr. POPE for their mistake by not re-inforcing the school policy and letting me inside the building without a proper pass. It is unfortunate that I was that person who was sent in the school building at the wrong time.
