The staff were great especially Seth and Alexander, who went beyond the call of duty to be helpful! There was also a young lady who was there Friday after 3pm, who was polite and courteous.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was helpful and thoughtful. We attended the art fair and it was perfect for that! Being within walking distance was wonderful! The in-room Keurig was nice and the river view was lovely. I would stay here again!
Beds are fairly comfortable, shower is a nice temperature and pressure, and amenities are provided, as well as free breakfast. Definitely worth the price!
Stayed for a wedding event. Basic accommodations and earnest staff. It definitely felt like a renovated dorm. The A/C unit had some serious leakage which was reported but never addressed during our stay. Not exactly sure what it wants to be.
This hotel is a nice value for short stays, though only if you get a nice discount through a booking site (hotel.com, Expedia, etc.), but not at their face value. Rooms here are outdated and are showing their age.
Now it's been a very hot week, and the AC for the room was horribly underpowered, but the rooms do have a nice view of the campus and river.
Hotel bathrooms are a good indicator for me on a room, and this one was left wanting. I was particularly horrified at the vent, it looked moldy to me, and hasn't been cleaned or serviced in a long time. The fixtures could also use some TLC.
All in all, if you can book at a discount you'll be practically 3 books from some great dining options, or several campus buildings when visiting a student for big events.
The rooms are dated but very clean. The staff was very polite. This hotel was cheaper than the chain hotels. The walls are paper thin. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.
The place was definitely dated and not very cleanhowever the views were top notch as well as the service. Beautiful campus within walking distance to the stadium. Take shuttles at your own risk. Overcrowded and stuffing. Overall the experience is one to remember.
Cozy and contemporary. Great
The ballroom was nice and spacious and the food served at the wedding was tasty. Staff seemed disinterested, however, and the construction sounds were distracting.
The location is the best part of this hotel. You cannot beat the proximity to campus. The beds were comfortable enough. The size of our room was smaller than other hotels but fine for two people. The Continental breakfast was not impressive. Coffee, prepackaged pastries, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal packets, bread and bagels. The juice machine was not functioning. We will probably look for a different hotel next time we visit.
Very convenient! It was great to be in the Student center and so close to food and a coffee shop inside! Beautiful view of the river. Just so you're not surprised; rooms are not cleaned well. Junk in the drawers and under bed, and food in the microwave. Towels do not match. This hotel is nothing fancy but it is very convenient and close to CWRC. (Rec facility) This and free parking made it all worth it.
We stayed at the Iowa House during our visit to the Iowa State Campus. The staff were very friendly and we really enjoyed the suite with a loft. The hotel is well decorated, and has a great living room area for meeting and relaxing. The breakfast was excellent. I only wish we had had more time to enjoy being at the hotel. We will stay there again.
They were nice
Walls are very thin and the room doors don't automatically close so noise was an issue. Front desk staff didn't seem very self sufficient and had to leave the desk to find out if they stocked toothpaste for guests who forgot it (they don't). Hot water was not always great during busy times. Access to campus recreation center was a nice bonus, though I wasn't initially told by hotel staff that I would need a paper slip each time to prove I was staying there.
I had confirmed a river view and ended up with a brick wall view. The staff was like, "Yeah, must have been a mix up. That's probably why"
Exactly.
Great location, decent continental breakfast, free wifi (AT&T hotspot, like most of UI campus), comfortable room with fridge and microwave.
Nice, clean hotel and I would stay again. They advertise complimentary breakfast, but there is no hot breakfast and the dry breakfast is small at best.
