Reasonably priced and great food. What really made the experience Golden was the service. Jeremy is an exceptional server, very knowledgeable about all menus, very kind, and extremely patient. Would love to have him again.

I randomly found this place on Google because I was in the area briefly visiting family.I was craving some good sushi. this place had high ratings so i decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed. I ordered 3 rolls: Pink Lady, Pink Dragon & spicy tuna roll.they were all very good & tasty, I was pleased with the freshness & quality of their fish. The staff was friendly and welcoming so I will definately revisit this establishment again.

The pros: authentic, great flavor, huge menu, friendly service, and types of sushi you don't often see, especially in SC (baby octopus, salmon skin).
Cons: How do you not have tamari or gluten-free soy sauce? This was such a disappointment as I could not fully enjoy my meal without any sauce. This is such a simple thing and would show such consideration for many people.response / report this review -

Worked here 13 years ago when I was in college, best sushi. Moved back, best sushi. Always recommend this place when people ask about Japanese food. Most authentic place I know in Columbia.

If you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in town with real sushi, Inakaya is the place to go. There are many other restaurants that say they serve sushi (like many of the Chinese buffet restaurants), they are not even close to what sushi is, and it makes me sad when I think that people eat those and think that's what sushi is.
At Inakaya, the raw fish is always fresh, and it's prepared right. In Japan, we often talk about the art of making sushi, and Mr.Watanabe is a skilled, properly trained sushi chef who offers us a taste of Japan. I would say the only ingredient that you may not find very common if you visited a sushi restaurant in Japan is the imitation crab but other than that, Inakaya's sushi is a great representation of what you would have at a sushi restaurant if you care to experience genuine sushi.
Inakaya also has sushi roll dishes that are more like American/Japanese fusion dishes if that's what you prefer.

The Sushi here is light-years ahead of any other sushi restaurant in Columbia. The katsudon was cooked perfectly and not dripping in sauce like they usually are from lesser restaurants, usually to hide low quality meat. All of the fish, raw or otherwise, tastes incredibly fresh. Chain restaurants like Miyabi and Tokyo Grill can't even hold a candle to this place. There is a downside to having excellent food, however, and that is waiting for it. Go during slow times for the best experience possible.

I had heard about this place from a few people that I knew and decided to try them they were exactly correct it is top-notch food at Super reasonable prices! I will definitely be coming back you can't miss with this one!

We ate here 1 time with the family in their more authentic seating section where you basically sat on the ground. For those more accustom to standard seating they actually went as far as having a well under the table for patrons to put their feet. Our kids ended up loving the well a little too much, but that was fine.
The sushi tasted top notch, and the price was not too bad for real authentic sushi.

Our go-to spot for Japanese food. Service is good, but it does suffer for this place's popularity from time to time.
If you don't go in a hurry, you'll have ample time to enjoy all the flavors and artful presentations this moderately-priced restaurant has to offer.
They even have (at least what I would call) and authentic Japanese dining room, shoe-free and all.

If you are looking for excellent sushi and other fine Japanese cuisine, look no further! The sushi is always fresh and presentation is top notch. The staff is always friendly and service is top-notch. Unfortunately, we had to move out of the area in 2015, but make sure we eat here every time we're in town. Haven't had sushi any better.

Went on a weekend trip to Columbia. Saw the reviews here so we divided to give it a try. Locals told us how great the food was and they were right! Amazing food and great prices! Waiter was a little slow but the food made up for it! Hope we get to go again!

The food and the staff were both amazing. Started with the shrimp dumplings, chef's choice either fried or steamed; he chose steamed. I had never had them before and was impressed. Served with a brown horseradish/wasabi like paste; not sure what it's called but very good. The ginger dressing on the house salad was the best I've ever had. The broiled salmon was very tasty, a touch over done, but still very good. I ended with the chocolate lava cake which was decent. Waitress gave me a scoop of green tea ice cream to wash down the cake since they don't have milk. Again, the staff was very very good. If I lived here I would definitely frequent this establishment.

Sushi is always fresh and expertly prepared. Cooked Japanese dishes are well seasoned and enjoyable. Servers and sushi chefs are attentive and helpful for beginner or advanced palates. I would highly recommend! After eating at all of the sushi restaurants in the Columbia area, this one by far is the best and has been consistent for 20 years!
