My daughter is a JV here. We adopted a cat here. We attend their special events every year. Safe to say this is a great Humane Society that cares about animals! They also have small pets

I adopted a cat two years ago from here. HSHV is the best. They work hard to save every animal that comes in the door. The environment is stellar considering it is a shelter, but they work hard to place each one in a forever home. I stopped in to drop off a donation of towels, and then went to see the animals. While it is sad to see so many homeless pets, they are fed, safe, dry, and up to date on shots. If you need a new best friend, please visit and adopt.

One of the most wonderful, caring, loving, thoughtful facilities of its kind and the most amazing place to support through both your financial donations and your time. These people are wonderful and the best you will find anywhere. The animals are at the center of all that they do, which is how it should be.

We took our dog there to get neutered. I was extremely nervous due to the fact that he's a pit and I know how people act around pits. They we're all awesome. They did a great job and took great care of him. Everyone was extremely friendly and comforting . I highly recommend this place

Went to pet puppies rescued from the hurricanes. They did not disappoint! We we're in awe on how big the facility is and how clean it is. My wife even wants to start volunteering here!

We fostered a dog from here and we adopted her today. This shelter is very nice, and they have a nice gift store. When we adopted our dog we bought her a surprise from the gift shop, a squeaky toy, and gave it to her when we got home. The people here are so nice, they said they hoped we would bring her in to visit and they are working to figure out how much the grooming would cost now that they would have to charge us (it was free while we fostered). If you go here, do us a favor: tell them you have heard of Diva! (Our dog wants to be famous..) Thanks.

I have used a couple different humane society adoption services. Several years ago I had to surrender a cat due to living situation. He was well taken care of and eventually adopted. About a month ago I was able to get a cat in my new apartment so I went back to Huron valley humane and adopted a wonderful senior cat. They were very open about any and all potential medical problems and behavior problems. The workers were accommodating and hilarious during the adoption process. Happy to say the new addition to my home has been doing great, he has exhibited no negative behaviors and is a little bundle of love and head butts!!

Great facility with friendly staff. Most importantly, what I like about it is the space they give the animals. There is a separate playroom for the cats that they use on a rotation (I'm assuming), so that they are not always stuck in a cage. They also work with the Tiny Lion Cafe in A2 to hopefully find homes for older cats. I adopted my dog Duke there and at the time, he had a fair amount of space (especially compared to the dogs at the Westland Humane Society, unfortunately) and seemed well cared for. We absolutely love him and glad we found him at Huron Valley. I will definitely return here when I'm ready to add a cat to the family.

Rude, immature person answered my call concerning the neighbor's aggressive pit bull. She was hostile from the get go. I called because I live in a neighborhood banning fences, the neighbor is hostile and the dog is acting in a aggresive fashion, making direct eye contact with me, standing with it's tail straight up, and barking every time I am gardening in my yard. I don't feel safe in my yard. The Humane Society's response of suggesting I calling the police instead of them is grossly inadequate. The Humane Society has blood on its hands. It is directly responsible for severe injuries and deaths of thousands of children, teens and adults and the mauling and deaths of even more animals by promoting the adoption of pit bulls. A pit bull image is currently the logo of the Huron Valley Humane's society literature, posters, and on fundraiser posters. One of my neighbor's German Shepherd had its eye gouged out by two pit bulls that escaped from a neighbors electronic fenced yard. Promoting adoption by default promotes popularizing the breed and encouraging more breeding. Pit bulls are completely banned in 12 countries including Denmark. Pit bulls and pit bull mixes are responsible for the majority hospitalizations due to dog bites and the majority of deaths in dog attacks. Insurance companies in other states charge more for or refuse to insure homes whose owners have a pit bull because 1/3 of all home insurance claims are paid out to victims of dog bites and the vast majority of these bites are pit bulls. The Michigan Humane Society spearheaded legislation that prevents Michigan home owners from being penalized for owning a pit bull - which means that the rest of us who don't own pit bulls are subsidizing the cost to society by having our insurance rates hiked up to cover the cost of insurance payouts for pit bulls. I think people who choose to own a dangerous animal should take full responsibility and full consequences - including being sued, having their insurance go up, and being jailed for harm inflicted by their furry weapons.

They're a no kill shelter and the staff is amazing. I got my 2 buddies from there and they've been chill and cuddly. Go here and look to rescue an animal before you contact a breeder.

These people are fantastic. They genuinely care about the animals and enjoy their jobs. We have adopted 2 dogs here. I can also recommend their veterinary center. The vet we have seen here is top notch.

Anytime that I've been to this facility, I've been treated great! 2 years ago, my boyfriend and I adopted a beautiful cat named Mei! She is 3 now and the best cat anyone could hope for. She lays in my lap peacefully when I clip her nails and about once every 5 monthes she gets in the bath tub for a good scrub:) I never thought a cat could be so sweet.
This afternoon we will be visiting again to hopefully find a DOG to be a sweet older brother for our sweet kitty. Fingers crossed.response / report this review -

I had a great experience here! My husband and I went in, knowing we wanted to go home with a kitten, and they made the process painless. We had to fill out a short form (one page, front and back) about ourselves and our home to get a 'cat pass' which would allow us to hold the cats. We figured out which one we wanted rather quickly, and brought the paper to the front to finish up. We had a short adoption meeting with one of the workers who gave us lots of helpful tips on how to best care for our new kitten. They gave us all of her medical records and were very helpful and kind! We were in and out in about an hour. So far, she's been great. We've had her home for 4 days and she's had no accidents (very well trained with the litter box!), no scratching or biting incidences, and she's very cuddly and LOVES to play! The only thing that's not great is that after showing her medical records to our vet, she said that they had been vaccinating her every two weeks, which is 'off label and immunosuppresses them'. Other than that, everything is perfectand I'm not sure yet how much that will affect her. Very happy with this place!!
