Great location and view of the bay. Excellent selection of seafood and a local catch on menu. Friendly waiter and knowledge of each choice on menu. Flew into Hilton Head Island airport and went straight to Hudson’s.
The service was great. Our server Josh was attentive and accommodating. The manager and Kitchen manager constantly checked on our party to ensure we were satisfied. The food was great also. We will definitely return.
If you come to Hilton Head Island, you HAVE to go to Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks. Everyone raved about it online and, I've got to say, the place is AWESOME! We waited for a table outside and sat at the bar for appetizers and drinks. Bar tenders were ULTRA-friendly and the people there were, too.
The food was awesome as well. Fresh, local seafood. Prices aren't bad. Service was also great.
It's touted as a more, locals place--and there were a LOT of locals for sure. Was great chatting with people about the area.
Had absolutely NO complaints about this place. Gets the Farmer Stamp of Approval and that's hard to get for a restaurant.
This is one of the best seafood platters around Hilton Head Island. The hush puppies are also excellent. My wife got grilled chicken and said it was wonderful as well. The view is quite nice though the outdoor "dock seating" has almost no shade whatsoever from an angle so in the afternoon it can be uncomfortably hot and blinding. The indoor seating is quite nice, with good views. The parking is utterly horrendous but the food is worth dealing with this obstacle. Highly recommended that you check this place out.
Once again you get what you pay. I won't lie, the food was great and the view makes the place look even better.
It is a little bit expensive but if you consider that you eat fresh fish food, and you have this amazing viewit worth it.
We had the salmon and crab burger, it was deliciouswe also said the waitress we need to leave soon, and she made sure the food will come a bit sooner. I just hope they had more shade.
All good, I strongly suggest you to go at least once for s wonderful meal and view.
If you don't like oysters, do NOT eat here. I'm a true southern and had heard great things about this place. However, the food was not worth the price! And it was to fancy for us! We spent $100 for three people. When it says seafood, I was thinking about all kinds of fish, not oysters. Their fish selection is few and far between. I gave it two stars because the people were very nice, we had a great waitress, and it had an awesome view. I would not eat here again though.
Service was outstanding! Ted, our server, was fun, friendly, enthusiastic and great at his job. He really loves the island and knows a great deal. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the sunset. The food was fresh and delicious. I give a 4 instead of 5 stars, because I had the grouper, which wad slightly over cooked. My sister had the scallops which were awesome. Shrimp and oysters were also excellent. Also, Family friendly!
Delicious seafood in a super casual setting with very friendly staff. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was amazing. The hot hush puppies were fantastic but no photos taken because we started eating them immediately after they were served. Well worth a visit.
Just be aware that reservations are not accepted and this is an especially popular restaurant. If you have the flexibility, try to go early in the evening and during the week but still expect something of a wait. (On a Sunday evening in July, our party of two got seated in under 20 minutes, which is very good.) There is seating indoors as well as outside (lovely view but wear sunscreen in the Summer). If you're there around sunset have your camera ready!
The wait times here can be especially long. Reservations are not accepted. However, given that other places told our group of 14 that wait times would exceed 2.5 hours this was not bad at just over an hour.
When we sat the manager came out and put three shrimp cocktail appetizers on the table as an apology for having to wait longer then the 45 minutes we were told the wait would be.
We went to the bar during the wait and were told the non-alcoholic drinks would transfer to our table. The bar was crowded but accommodating and did put out ordered of hush puppies for the guests.
Wait service was fantastic. Food was delicious and served hot. Reviewed from the group for both seafood and land food was all excellent. The staff sang to one of the youngest in the party for their birthday.
Overall, highly recommend for big or small groups and groups with or without children. They have definitely earned their high praises.
Absolutely the greatest seafood expereience my wife and I have had in a long time. Location was awesome and food was truly exquisite. The atmosphere was conducive to a good time. Now to the food. It was fresh, served hot, seasoned well, delivered by courteous wait staff. If you ever visit please have the Steam Combo or the Neptune Platter. They will make you slap yo mama. Last, the price was more than fair. You truly get a big bang for your buck.
We never heard of this place but did a Google search for food on the water. We no expectations but were pleasantly surprised with the staff. The young teenager who greeted us was cheery and friendly. The rest of the staff was amazingly nice and friendly. The entire reason for being there was to eat and it was very good at a fair (for the island) price. I had blacken swordfish and my daughter had a chicken sandwich for lunch. Each was very testy and nice side servings. Oh yes and the views from the seating on the dock were just what we were looking forthey also had a couple big fishing boats parked at the restaurant good family place
There wasn't one bite that wasn't delicious. The hush puppies and coconut shrimp made the start of the meal promising. Then came the seafood pasta and it was the best I've ever had and I've had a lot in my lifetime. The best decision I made was to get dessert. The m&m dusted chocolate cake made me wish I lived here so I could have it always. Our waitress was also amazing, speedy, efficient, and kind. However, the reason I decided to review was the amazing management policy in regards to the military. They gave us one of the most generous discounts and my husband was honored by their respect for our military .
It's a fun place in the evening, but if it's your first time there you should go while it's still light out because the views are fantastic! The last time we were there it was super busy, but the staff made room for us and our food was great. I ordered crab legs and they were amazing- I haven't had any like it since that meal.
One thing I love about the restaurant is the fact they're always out there with the community. We attended an oyster roast and BBQ they hosted in the fall. Not only was the food outstanding, but this is a great way to get to know the community.
Hudson's is a must stop for us when we visit Hilton Head. Atmosphere is a little scruffy but that adds to the ambiance. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Food is mostly fresh from the sea and nicely prepared. Prices are reasonable for seafood in a resort area. Parking may be difficult during busy hours. During nice weather, eat outside.
