Supper great, time good food drinks and service.
Love the food and the service. Just wish they could find a way to kill the stale cigarette odor.
Great nostalgic place and very authentic German food. The wiener schnitzel, red cabbage and spetzle were a delicious combo.
Quaint, completely nostalgic restaurant with some of the best food in the region. My wife and I make the hour-long drive down every couple of months to enjoy the excellent menu, for a very reasonable price. Portions are large, wait staff is reliably consistent, and they have a nice selection of German bier on draft.
The food was very good, the music was the typical "Roll out the Barrel" songs. Waitress was excellent, the atmosphere though nice, was kind of old and in need of updating. It is in an old building, been there since 1957 and looks like it has never been renovated. If you use the restroom, expect to be horrified
..musty, moldy ceiling tiles, obviously has had its share of water leaks.
Sometimes there is more to a place then what is on the walls. I admit, heading inside Hofbrauhaus Pub and Restaurant is like traveling back in time, which, to me, is something that I find to be charming. To me, what is the most important, is the authentic German food that the friendly team serves. The hot potato salad, green goddess dressing, and homemade horseradish cheese spread are as good as they get. I order the Weinerschnitzel with brown mushroom gravy, which is a dish I look forward to all year long. We are only in the area once or twice a year, however, we go out of our way to support this authentic blast from the past. What most people may not factor in to the cost of an entree is the fact that all meals are served with bread, cheese spread, salad, soup, and two side dishes, a very inclusive meal if you ask me. I have been to some of the finest restaurants in the US and abroad and I rate restaurants based upon value for the dollar, uniqueness of food, and service. With that being said, Hofbrauhaus is one of my family's favorites and has become a tradition. If you want swanky digs, overpriced small plates, or expensive chandeliers to stare at while you eat you are going to miss out. This place serves great food, a lot of it, with a smile, and with an authentic German flair.
Got sick from the food, in the bathroom. The place was not clean, stank, dirty dishes were being piled up on a serving tray in the middle of the restaurant, waitress got ice from a camping cooler and waitress wasn't the nicest.
Good food and fun atmosphere! Smelled like smoke tho. Not nice to smaell smoke while eating dinner
Outstanding service, quality and quantity of authentic German food. Waitresses even dress in German attire. 1st Fridays all you can eat German food.
We drive an hour to Abbotstown just for their good food. Love the beer cheese spread, the house dressing, the Sauerbraten and the black forest cake. I wish they would publish a cook book!
Very good food, beer, service and atmosphere. Stopped during a motorcycle ride with my wife. The place was cozy dark with German music playing. The Zigeunerschnitzel sandwich and potatoe dumplings were out of this world good. A must try for anyone. They have American food choices also.
