Stayed in apt. 7 for 5 weeks spring of 2018. Older but very clean and in working order. Excellent value and very convenient locationwe will be back. Onsite manager, Marceilla, is wonderful and attends to all needs.
David and I spent three weeks at the Heron House.
Marcela is an gracious, friendly and kind hostess. The Heron House is CLEAN and we'll kept!!!
And to me that means a lot. Marcela checked with us when she saw us out to make sure everything was good.
Would recommend The Heron House. Wish I could give it more than five six stars.
We reserved a one bedroom for the weekend of 10/29/16 a few weeks out on Trip Advisor. Got a confirmation that we were booked! (in town for a wedding) Found Heron house just fine, what a colorful quirky place! Office was locked , with a paper sign saying to "call floyd" , which we did and they did not have our reservation for room #2 at all, but they did have #4 available due to a cancellation. We did not need a key, only a code, and room #4 was a two bedroom, with a kitchenettevery clean, kitschy and comfortable. Our friends were also staying there, but there room actually needed a Key to get in.and they also had to get to the wedding so they waited for itwhich caused them to be a bit late. They actually ended up staying with us because their luggage was already in with us, and we liked them nearby plus we had a coffee maker haha. My recommendations to the Heron House management is to get more professional signs for the front desk office door, to have all rooms be able to have a code for ease of entrance, and to make sure trip advisor reservations are working! All in all we had a wonderful time, a good nights sleep and would totally go back there again!!
Quiet, comfortable, clean and hospitable. Our host, Floyd, was great! He taught us how to clean scallops, cleaned half of our first day catch, and loaned us the tools for the rest. Thanks, Floyd!
If you want the life-in-the-slow-lane, old Florida experience, Steinhatchee (pronounced Steen, not Stine) is the place to go! A place where time has stood still, or at least slowed down to a turtle's pace, where the land meets the sea. We arrived at The Heron House late evening and were met by Floyd, who runs the place with Susan. To our surprise, Floyd announced we were being upgraded to a larger room for the same price! Floyd chatted with us briefly, and we headed out to dinner, a seafood buffet, at Fiddler's, recommended by Susan. It was a lively place, there was a bounty of food, and it was delicious! The accommodations at The Heron House were cute, very clean and very comfortable. Floyd was a great host! On our way out the next morning, we met Everett, who has been coming to Steinhatchee and staying at The Heron House for nigh on ten years during winters. He summers on Martha's Vineyard, lucky guy! Our only regrets are that we did not have more time to explore and relax in Steinhatchee and that we did not get to meet Susan, who has a lovely South African accent! Susan, I apologize for not posting this review before this, and I promise we will be back. Thank You both for your hospitality! Melodye & Brooks
Great budget motel. Very attentive and helpful manager. It has different size and price rooms from basic motel room to 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment suites. There are kayaks and canoe for guests to use. Only 2 minute walk to fishing on the river and less then 10 minutes walk to grocery store and nice restaurants. This is a great little undiscovered Florida fishing and vacation village. Free off-street parking and boat trailer storage. Has space for RV with electric and sewage hook-up.
Cool place really close to the marina. Very clean and comfortable. It's unique also, not some cookie-cutter hotel room. Great place for the family to relax and get away for awhile. If you're looking for a nice, relaxing place near the water (not directly on the water, but not far at all), I would definitely recommend this place. I'm looking forward to going there again!
