It was a big let down. So the buildings looked beautiful from the little bit I got to see from the main road. But the road that drives through the area was blocked and posted. We didn't go on the property we pulled off the road to just look but as soon as we stopped this big grey truck came flying down the road there to chase us off. We kept going down the main road and saw another small road near the river. We looked and it wasn't posted or roped off so we pulled in. As soon as we pulled in the grey truck was coming down the road. We stopped and an older guy got out and came over. He told us that it was private property and closed to the public because of vandalism. I get that but he didn't have to be a complete jerk about it. We had every right to be on the side of the main road without feeling like we were going to be shot.

I don't recommend visiting this place unless you stay on the main road and don't get out of your vehicle. A watchdog of a man made us leave (by the way, the side road we were in did not say private property and we never got out of the car) but he was very rude about it, commenting that it's private property and people had been vandalizing it so we had to leave. He wouldn't allow us to take pictures from our car, which I thought was ridiculous. We made a special trip to see this location and it was a major letdown because of this situation. It looked like a really neat place but we weren't able to enjoy it thanks to idiots that vandalize property.

Awesome place to visit. Looks like a ghost town. Outhoused in the back of all homes. Deems like time stopped here. A bit eerie. Worth the trip.

There is something hauntingly interesting about this place. It is an old cotton mill town that was abandoned with the last family leaving in the 1980's. It is interesting to see the buildings and in some cases, some of the things that were left behind. This town was also filmed for some of the Hunger Games films, so generated some interest from that too. We ended up spending a couple of hours there as each building seems to tell a different story.
