I love our park!! I spend a lot of mornings going for a run or a walk .My 8th year old loves going there as well and we spend most of our summer afternoons there.

Great park! I grew up here. Summer concerts at the theater, tennis when it wasn't raining, softball games, fishing derby, fall festivalso many things to enjoy.

Excellent park for kids. Very big playground with plenty of options for young and older kids. Regularly held events, live music in summer, festivals. Photo is from the Fall Festival, where a fair comes to the park. There’s usually a truck selling ice cream. Very near town center for an after park meal. Pond with many ducks and geese. Safe and welcoming.

Great park with a large playground, swings and play area for young kids plus a gorgeous fish pond with large trees and benches dotted around it and a full walkway. The pond is fully stocked with turtles, some HUGE fish (see my image) and geese and ducks. You can buy feed to feed them and watch them swarm around the waters where you stand (even the fish and turtles will come to try to get some food). Right on the same grounds is the Heckscher Art Museum featuring some of August Heckscher's own personal collection of priceless art plus a rotation of exhibits throughout the year. The park is beautiful and just outside of the Huntington main strip where you can find great restaurants, shops and of some great ice cream. All in all a great way to spend a day with friends and family.

Always love this park. One downfall: no dogs allowed. Wish they'd allow dogs like Northport does. Even if they'd allow dogs in one area only and trust we'd pick up after our pets. That would make this more people-friendly too.

I've lived in Huntington for over 35 years. Hecksher Park is great but it's constantly covered in goose poop, everywhere you step. The playground is great but sometimes over crowded. The pond is wonderful to walk around or explore with little ones because there are geese, swans, turtles and fish! The art museum is really cool. Overall it's a great place to hang out ball field, tennis courts. concerts and other free shows during the summer put on by the Huntington Arts Council. Every morning the walkways get washed (because of the goose poop) and the pants get watered. The only reasons I am giving it a 4 out of 5 is because of the goose poop and when it says popular hours, they mean it and it is over crowded neither of which are the parks fault just a reality.

Great place to walk off your great meal from any of the wonderful local restaurants.
All the water features are beautiful. The water fowl and coy are a joy to watch. You can also find turtles sun bathing on occasion. The paths make for easy stroller walking, jogging and benches are nicely placed for relaxation and observation.
It is often said that "the best things in life are free". This park does not fall short. Great for a morning stroll, an afternoon pick me up or an evening conversation. The plants and fountains are great Photo props.
I like the children's playground. The gates require height to open, making it safe for toddlers not to open. There is room to run for all the children of all ages and gym equipment to play on and climb. There is a sand pit and swings of course. This is a fun place for the family and friends.
There are loads of free events in the park for all to enjoy. The tulip festival in early May was a hit. Tried my first fried Oreo there and it was a delight. Our son painted and we learned about other local businesses with activities for our little one. I am grateful for this nice retreat right near the heart of Huntington Village.response / report this review -

Nice little park, beautiful pond to walk around with birds, turtles and even some muskrats. A favorite place. Also check out the Vanderbilt Art Museum also on site.

This is a cute little park next to the shopping district in Huntington Village. It's a great place to stroll around the lake on a nice day.

This park is like the Yellowstone of Long Island NY! You will love the landscapes and yes there is something to take away from this whole natural experience! Gotta love the nature side of it all to appreciate a park of this size! Hope this park doesn't go anywhere soon cause it's great to go to open places and spaces and you'll be saying (HECK) why didn't i find that earlier!

A no fee, beautifully landscaped Village park, not to be confused with the New York State's "Heckscher State Park". If you live in the area or just visiting Huntington Village you really should check this charming little park out that's opened year round. It's only a mile to a 1/2 mile from the Village. Loads of trees, lovely well maintained grassy areas throughout the park. A handful of picnic tables tastefully located at various points, enclosed modern playground for the kiddies, a museum "Heckscher Museum of Art" and an outdoor stage "Chapin Rainbow Stage" nestled within the park for free Seasonal concerts and performances, lighted tennis courts and a baseball field. There's a paved lighted walkway that goes all the way around the lovely duck pond that is easily accessed by stroller or wheelchair. Some Handicapped parking.
