Beautiful historic park and landmark in West Virginia. Great for camping, hiking, rock climbing and just relaxing by the river. This is also a wonderful place to take pictures. There is a visitor center where you can get information and souvenirs.
I grew up near here and it always made me enjoy West Virginia more whenever I come to Hawk's Nest. When I visit my old hometown, I try to always visit this beautiful state park as well. The Fall time is the most beautiful.
Never miss this if you are in the area. Pet friendly lodging. If you have time take the tram down to the river and the jet boat up to the New Gorge Bridge for a great view.
I paid for a canyon view room. Beautiful picture overlooking the canyon advertised the view from the room. When we arrived the man at the desk (he was very nice and understanding thru this ordeal) verified canyon view room, room on 1st floor. Upon entering room, we opened the curtain to the balcony and all we could see was a fence and trees. No beautiful view of the canyon. Not even standing on a chair. The man at the front desk stated that I wasn't the first person upset about the room. Then it doesn't need to be listed as a premium room with a view. We were refunded and I was in tears from my wonderful weekend stay ruined by false advertising.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. They could use a little updating but it’s still a nice place to stay. The view of the Gorge from our room was beautiful. We were there for Bridge Day weekend and already have plans to stay again in 2018.
It's so beautiful! Just breathe taking! I loved every minute we were there! It shows what W.V. is all about!
We were excited about our upcoming vacation here, but were quickly saddened upon our arrival & check-in. This is an old and outdated hotel. The check in lobby has beautiful views, but the rooms are downstairs 2 levels. We had booked a canyon view room, but our view is a fence. We returned to the front desk to see if a different room was available, she advised us nothing else was available. She also advised us that the hotel restaurant is NOT OPEN for lunch or dinner. Don't waste your time or money on this hotel, unless you like outdated & musty old hotels. We will be staying tonight, but have cancelled our remaining nights to stay at a nicer place. I've posted a photo of the view from our "canyon view room".
Get the gorge view rooms. Really beautiful view! Nice room. Everything was clean. Comfortable bed. I wish the restaurant had been open but under construction right now. Would love to go back sometime.
Beautiful view. Classic old stone building. Great for a 15 minute stop.
Great hike, beautiful scenery. Mild to moderate hike though. Good for a long walk.
Would love to go back and explore, just enjoyed our night in the lodge and brief hike.
Beautiful park and friendly staff. The lodge however, is pretty run down and in need of updates.
Had a wonderful day. Place was very clean. Employees were very nice and polite and helpful.
