We had the unfortunate need for the services of an attorney. Thankfully, we found Gus Lazares. What an awesome person and attorney!! The responsiveness and communication were top notch. Gus was able to negotiate with the prosecutor to resolve the case without the need for any personal court appearance. If you find yourself in need of legal counsel, you will not regret contacting Gus. Do yourself a favor, make the call!!

Like most of the posters here, our son, a Miami student, made some bad decisions that put himself into a horrible legal situation on a Saturday. I found myself scurrying on the weekend to find someone in a town where I had no contacts to handle the serious legal ramifications and to navigate with the Miami disciplinary process. I found Gus and within hours (actually during my drive), we had a plan in place to minimize the situation to the fullest extent possible. A short time later, Gus had already devised a legal strategy and executed on it. The legal proceedings were satisfactorily resolved within a week and the outcome exceeded my expectations. Gus understands the inner workings both with the courts and the University and has a highly respected rapport with all. I should note that the University disciplinary process can be just as serious as the legal process and Gus was prepared to deal with both. We would not have achieved such a desirable outcome given the situation, without Gus' expertise. He also built a relationship with my son and mentored him to correct much of the Miami situation himself. My son has a chance to learn from this and correct his situation thanks to the direct actions of Gus and through the advice and counsel that he gave to my son. His situation was a bad one, but we will be forever grateful to Gus for putting him on a path that gives my son a second chance.

Due to an unfortunate series of circumstances we needed a lawyer able to navigate The Miami University Office of Ethics and Student Conflict. The prospect of losing tuition and being kicked out was on the table. Gus met with my son the same day, explained the possibilities, put together a plan with him and met with the school two weeks later. Not only did he provide great legal and procedural advice, he also developed a rapport with my son. They handled the case together, I watched my son go through another right of passage. Gus is great and respected by the Miami staff and faculty. I don't normally due reviews, but we were in a scary place and didn't know who could help. He helped us find peace and gave us hope.

Gus helped me in two situations. From the start he showed that he truly cared about his client and was going to do everything in his power to mitigate the situation. He showed genuine concern and was always prompt in communication whenever new information would arise. Highly recommend.

I found myself in way over my head after making a stupid decision and getting into some serious trouble. Luckily, a friend dragged me into Haughey and Niehaus LLC and I met Neal Schuett. Neal instantly informed me everything I needed to know and helped get my charges lowered and saved my butt from the possibility of over 200 days in jail. I highly recommend Neal and the rest of Haughey and Niehaus to anyone looking for good representation in the Oxford area.
