Flat out hard to beat. Awesome all around. I've also had 2 people tell me it's the best restaurant they've ever tried. It's definitely in the top handful in Charleston.
Great spot for seafood. Our food was delicious. However, our server had a bit of an attitude and was less than attentive. Charleston grill is a much better choice.
Great place. Grant our server was top notch! Collard greens best I’ve ever had, hands down. If you have any doubts about where to go tonight, go here. Have 1 or 2 too many “new old fashioned”. The entire night will be just a little more unicorn.
I don't eat seafood but my husband and I eat here every time we are visiting Charleston! Menu changes and there is just enough variety to accommodate even my finicky taste buds. Based on the quality of food and service, it can be very difficult to get a table, but the staff never acts stressed or rushed. They are personable and knowledgeable about the specials and helpful in making dinner choices. We love Hanks!
Old school ambience, excellent seafood and service from well trained servers. A bit pricey, but it is in the middle of historic Charleston. Desserts were a pleasant surprise, classically good and not sweet
They make the most perfect margaritas and I know my margaritas. Everything was delicious. You must try their peanut butter pie.
Incredible service, food, and atmosphere. Easily one of the best meals I have had in Charleston. We have the ceviche appetizer, scallops, and a few glasses of wine. The prices are a bit on the heavy side, but it was all well-worth it.
After walking around the historic district of Charleston all day, my husband & I needed a place to cool off & recharge. We were only a few blocks from Hank's so we decided to go there. The waitstaff is courteous & efficient. The decor is very classy. I thought maybe we were underdressed being in shorts & tee-shirts, but we were assured that we were just fine. I ordered the seafood platter #5 with shrimp, scallops, & flounder. The scallops melted in my mouth! They were close to the best scallops I have ever eaten in my life! Their cocktail sauce was also a little different, having more of a spicy "zip" then what I am accustomed to but very tasty indeed. I would highly recommend this place & would return if I am ever in Charleston again
Nice peaceful atmosphere. We had the shrimp platter, which was very fresh and not over cooked. Very tasty & not oily at all. The portion size was satisfying- enough to take some away to each later. Will visit again when in the area & can afford the experience. Two people, lemonade & two sides + tip came to $72.00 - just before dinner hour, approx. 4pm.
We heard this was the best seafood in Charleston. We can confirm it was the best we visited within our 7 days there. The shrimp and grits were great.
This can be an expensive place to eat but the food and experience is worth it. Everything we had was really good. The atmosphere was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Recommend you make a reservation. We say some visitors being told the wait time would be over two hours. We had a reservation and were seated immediately.
great atmosphere. the community table worked out well for fast seating and we met some nice people while we ate delicious food.
Our third visit in 6 weeks. The seafood is extremely well prepared. Each dish is prepared for you. The executive chef knows his seafood and spices. This restaurant has been voted The Best Seafood Restaurant in Charleston for 16 years in a row. They have definitely earned that title. The service and sanitation are excellent. Well managed Restaurant. Highly recommend a reservation.
We went on a Friday, the place was packed but lucked out with 2 seats at the Community Table. Kellen was our server, she could not have done a better job, friendly, knowledgeable and on the ball the whole time. Had Oysters for an App and split the Roast Grouper with Risotto. AWESOME! Fresh Seafood, prepared and served by professionals! Will be back when we are in Charleston!
