If you are an art lover do not miss this fantastic museum. The architecture is beautiful with an inner plaza with bamboo, beautiful lighting and a cafe. The Curatorial staff is wicked clever, the lighting is perfect and there is always something to surprise and delight.
The museum is free and has its own parking validated for two hours free so don't let the Westwood address scare your off. In fact, there is absolutely no reason to not visit every time you are in need of going to the area since it is the cheapest most supreme parking in the UCLA area.

Enjoyed a fun evening with the UCLA gamer students as they showed off their creativity both electronic and as board games. Especially enjoyed the erotic adult-only section.

Definitely one of the more unique museums I've encountered. It's completely FREE so go if you have the chance. I came here expecting a traditional museum visit but the exhibits are more modern and change frequently. The recent one I've seen is about radical women which makes for interesting art. There's also a room full of older paintings.

loved it!! I'm from Argentina and I felt so comfortable here. They have a lot of things about gender and skin equality. The explication that you find in the works of art is also in Spanish.

A small museum but with some choice pieces, especially by French artists. Lovely open space inside the museum to relax and get a bite to eat. Some moving/temporary exhibits and galleries add variety. And it's free and open till late (8 pm).

Loved our visit to the Hammer. UCLA Art Students act as docents and lead fascinating discussions about the works on display. Display spaces are open and inviting -- show off the works very effectively. Upstairs courtyard garden spaces are relaxing spaces to unwind. Highly recommended.

Nice museum with friendly staff, a nice gift shop with a good selection and a nice place to grab food. The museum is free to enter and has free WiFi for guests. They also have a nice courtyard where you can meet people with lots of tables and seats. The art is varied. There are paintings in more classical styles and also more contemporary sculpture and mixed media pieces. It took me about a little over an hour to go through everything whilst taking my time, it's not the largest gallery.

A really wonderful and different museum. It's built around a courtyard and has only a small section of more traditional art in the permanent collection. Most is very, very modern. I didn't find the modern stuff to be terribly interesting but it's a great experience and there were a few pieces I really loved. I'm under the impression a lot of it rotates pretty often, too, so when you're going it might be totally different. Either way, it's free, beautiful, calming and different from your average museum.

It's free. The permanent collection is quite good and the temporary exhibits are relevant to the sociopolitical climate. The outdoor space is very well organized, dynamic, and communal. The gift shop/book store is well stocked with fascinating items. The children's section is fantastic. The upstairs women's restroom is always hot and the stalls are poorly built.

It's free! A rotation of exhibits plus a small permanent collection of classic paintings is the fare here. Sadly the go 10 times and get a free membership (for VIP events) has ended, but why not chip in and buy a membership to support the museum? Terrific place to spend time any time.

Usual modern art museum in an impressive building.

Part of the University of California so I take it the works here are very high-end student pieces.

Has a few galleries and pleasant spot to chill.

Love the Heatherwick chairs to spin and mess about on!

The museum shop is better than others so it's worth popping in.

Great little oasis. I love their little book store. It has so many books for the artistic minded person. The Ping Pong tables for people to play are really great addition to an art museum. There weren't as many exhibits as I thought, but considering that this museum is free, that's not that big a deal.

What a great event! Bay Area bucket list, CHECK! If you are looking for a change from the typically bar scene check this place out. Great place to take a date or with friends. The exhibits are actually really cool, tons of interactive booths, plenty of food and bars. Each night also has a theme, had some killer EDM music last week! I recommend this place for a great alternative to a Thursday night out and the tickets to get in are cheap! Go see Dave in the Cafe, guys makes a solid stiff drink!
