An amazing place to check out Lake Superior. The high lake levels have eroded much of the beach, and a lot of it is no longer sandy. Still a sight to behold though! Plenty of parking at the established lots off of M-26. The biggest parking area has outhouses.

Great Sand Bay has beautiful shallow water, so its warmer than other parts of Superior. The sand and rock combo is nice, but the beach is pretty little. There were pit toilets and decent parking. My favorite beach on Superior is AuTrain, about 1.5 hours from Great Sand Beach. Its great stop along the peninsula.
