Munising and Pictured Rocks camping/lodging was sold out and weather wasn't looking great. Opted for the $100/night cabin on Grand Island. Best decision ever. Definitely pricier than most State/National park cabins. However, there was wood on-site, built-in heaters (didn't need it, fortunately), and they could probably sleep 8+ given that each bed is probably a double and there are 2 bunk beds. Had a great time. About a mile or so to the first cabin. Next time we'll bring bikes and book a cabin a little farther up the island.

There was nothing in my life like sitting on the beach completely alone in the clear waters of Lake Superior. The star filled sky so dark you could stay there for hours.
If you can survive the mosquito attacks hiking to the cabins you're in for a treat. It was my last taste of the upper peninsula and I will truly never forget it.
If you're looking for isolation and peace and nature look no further. Grand Island as a whole I didn't explore much. But the water access and the quietness was something I may never have again.
