Went to the scholarship award reception where afterwards they invited us all to the basketball game. As we were preparing to go inside the guy, who lead us from the dining hall to the arena, was unsure of where we were supposed to sit. He then told us to head over to section 107. Once we were actually inside the section was already filled. The guy then told us to fill any seat on the next section over. We only got to stay there for about 5 minutes before we had to move again since someone had bought tickets for those seats.So we went to customer service to ask where to sit and the lady said we can sit
wherever there was an empty seat but she said if someone else bought those tickets for those seats we have to move again,and again and again.They need to be more organized before inviting those coming from another event. Especially since the event was a dress to impress attire and so most of us weren't expecting to attend a sports game and even more to be constantly moving around.

Professors are amazing and the school is wonderful--so long as you fit their cookie cutter mold. The moment you want to transfer or have a problem with housing or run into other trouble, the administration is seriously lacking. It takes weeks to get a reply and even then you're met with a lot of people who can't really help you. If you fit their mold and will never run into any issues, the school is wonderful and the campus is warm and welcoming. The professors truly love their students. Unfortunately the administration is not nearly as genuine or concerned with the students purpose so much as they are concerned with getting financial compensation.

Cautionary Tale
Update from Previous. So naturally, someone saw my previous detailed review and called to pretend to be concerned. I received one call and an email. I was suggested one of GCU's links, that proved to not be valuable and the other, I was not able to register.
I have a masters from this school that does not mean much of anything. I urge you to do your research; and make sure that this school's program offers what you need to be able to progress. Even though I researched, I wish maybe I would have gotten a second opinion and compared other programs.
Check everything several upon several times before accruing the debt and just when you think you're sure this is the school for you Have someone you trust look at it with you.
If this only help a few people, to not make the same mistake of going here that I have. then that is all that I could ask for.

I just want to say - they will call you five hundred times in a row to get you to enroll. I would have enrolled if they didn't harass me so much. There are other schools that don't harass me such as Phoenix and Walden. I had to block three of their phone numbers. I just wanted emailed information. I asked for that specifically- then they called forever and every moment of three days a week

Grand Canyon is the worst. I wish I could give them 0 stars. I am extremely unhappy with my time here. They do not allow you to contact any one or any departments without going through your student services counselor. At times, it took my counselor a week to a return a simple phone call. If I didn't have to use her for everything, I could have accomplished everything by myself in a much quicker manner. I also tried to contact the program directors of the College of Education a month ago and I am still waiting to hear from them, I don't think they have any interest in returning my calls.

I ended up withdrawing from GCU and I have a credit remaining on my account. Now I am trying to contact someone to get the ball rolling on getting that money back. My advisor doesn’t return my calls, and neither does her supervisor. I’ve called the main phone number for the campus to try and talk to the financial department directly but I’ve run into a wall because they don’t speak to students, they only speak with advisors.

GCU's mission statement specifically mentions something about preparing learners to become effective communicator’s blah blah. This university is completely unwilling to communicate with their students. How can you possibly teach students to become effective communicators when their own employees aren't even capable of communicating!? I hate this place. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I enjoyed my time at Grand Canyon University while I hanged there with my friends. I had a lot of resources to study or get tutored. Also I met new people from all around USA. Also, the campus is huge enjoy it. The class sizes are small which is easy for students to learn. The professors are caring.

I had a wonderful experience obtaining my undergraduate degree from GCU (B.S. in Applied Management). The professors were great, always willing to be helpful, if necessary. It is not an easy school, but, in my opinion, that is a good thing. I obtained my degree through their online program.

I love this university! Everyone is so helpful and quick to respond. I am able to pick up my phone and text/call my councilor and get a response within 24 hours, something I did NOT get anywhere else. The staff is absolutely lovely and the campus s gorgeous. I look forward to finishing my degree here!

I am a current student at GCU. So far my experience has been excellent. The faculty and staff seem to genuinely care about me as an individual. They have been very accommodating and understanding. I feel that I am receiving a thorough education at a decent price. I believe that GCU has integrity and honor; however, their on line learning program is not designed for people who work full time and have family obligations. The rigor of class participation requirements combined with the often excessive assignments with only a week to complete is a system that is geared towards students who have nothing else to do with their time, but focus on their class work. GCU does not seem to understand the needs of people who have full time jobs and families to support. It is a shame; because other than that GCU is a great school, but their current modality of distance learning sets people up for failure and potential financial burden.

I have read through some of the reviews and it seems a lot of disgruntled student are commenting. I have been enrolled online from some time and I find the classes to be insightful and informational. I have had the same staff since I started and they periodically check in with me. My professors have all been responsive and fair. And of course there is a lot of reading, it's a college course. This is my second degree and I am finding the coursework and assignments right on par. The goal is to learn, and GCU is providing me with a great learning experience.

everything about this school is outsourced to another company and if you need help from a SSA it will be a week before you hear from anyone. Doesn't surprise me they were denied non for profit status. Good luck future students. You've been warned

You know, I actually liked this school much more when I first started, maybe would've even given 5 starts. However, my recent encounters greatly outweigh my past oversights. I don't think I have ever been to a school or seen a teacher that subjectively grades as much as Ernie Scarborough. He intimidates his finance students by almost interrogating them during class, which is extremely humiliating to those students who are shy or not as strong in financial math. Being a student in his class, who has a pretty decent understanding of finance, I have been docked points for helping students learn excel and the basic concepts of finance. The students that I help are too intimidated by Scarborough to ask him the questions, which then hinders their learning experience of this college. He also finds it acceptable to take points off of participation for women who are on there periods and must excuse themselves to the restroom to handle their needs, those who have a medical condition and their eyes take a moment to adjust from the computer screen to the board. When provided with the prescription birth control (validating the reason behind using the restroom) and the prescription eye drops (that help with eyes adjusting to the board), both were included in the reasons for being docks points, he and the dean, Randy Gibb stated that I was graded as a group. I must be confused as to how grades work because it is listed in the syllabus that all students must individually do their work. So why we are graded as groups for individual assignments is beyond me. I was under the impression that I earn my own grade and the rest of the students earn their own grade as well. When I requested a meeting with the dean, I was told to just go meet with the teacher. So I was very happy about setting up a pointless meeting just to be told to meet with a snarky teacher. Oh, mind you that this teacher's average test grade is a 53%, tests are 42% of your grade. I think these numbers speak more of the instructor and college than anything else. My opinion is just go to a different college that grades logically and not subjectively, your money is best spent somewhere else.

Hopefully future students take the time to read these reviews and their parents.let me tell you all about my experience with this SCAM school. I am a mother of a student who was interested in moving to Az and decided to look at GCU. As soon as she inquired about it she gets a phone call asking her to come there that they would pay for her airfare to see the college. Next they offered her 8,000 to attend. She was bamboozled into this place not knowing the full cost for 1 year was about 18,000 or more for a headache. She took 2 loans out. This was the cost just for her classesshe was staying with a friend off campus. Once school started she realized this was a joke.courses were jokes. Then she needed to stay on campus and took out another loan for 4000 to cover dorm and food pass. Funny story is that it took over 20 emails to her counselor and several ignored phone calls before I had to step in. It was over 3 months before we finally received her full loan back. Nobody is helpful therenobody believes in phones thereits all emails for communication. Please please please..this college is a big SCAM.waste of money and nothing to gain from it but hassle and headaches. DO NOT ATTEND THIS COLLEGE!!!
