WOW! This was our fist visit to Golden Pines Restaurant & Bar in St Germain WI - conveniently located right on Hwy 70. We had so much fun and the food was some of the best I've had in the Northwoods. The new owners - Lynn & Victor - have a stellar reputation in the area, treating guests to their special brand of hospitality at their local resort, Cedaroma - on Little St Germain Lake. I have experienced and believe you will find this same quality of experiences and hospitality at Golden Pines. I'm sure they'll be adding and improving some minor nuances along the way but given they had only had the place for a week, we were thoroughly impressed with the hospitality from Teddy behind the bar, our hostess & our server - Joe & the genuine interest from Lynn and Victor, carefully listening to our comments and noting our experience. Back to the WOW - the foodfirst we sampled the Bacon wrapped Scallops - WOW. Delicious. Perfectly prepared and served. "She" had the encrusted Walleye - a Northwood's staple - and Victor's new kitchen delivered - 5 star. I tried the evenings special - Chicken & Ribs - 5 star again - the ribs were perfect, "fall off the bone" without being overcooked - served with a sweet BBQ sauce - I thought they were some of the best I've sampled in recent months. DInners were served with a house salad, choice of dressing, choice of potato - she had the baked potato with sour cream - "loved it" and I had the parmesan encrusted potato/ american fries - delicious! Kudo's to the staff - Teddy, Joe, for making this a fun evening and kudo's to Lynn and Victor for their hospitality and delivering a quality dining experience and some of the best food I've had in the Northwoods! I'll be referring you to Ron Faiola , the author of Wisconsin Supper Clubs books I & II to give you a visit and include you in volume III. Congratulations on your new adventure & Thank you for creating such a great addition to the Northwood's Dining experience. If you haven't been to the Golden Pines since October 2 2017, make sure you schedule a visit soon and get a "taste" of the new standard in Northwoods dining - this time next year, I believe the secret will be out and seating and reservations will need to be more premeditated. Stop by and visit Golden Pines - I know you'll love your visit

Absolutely horrific experience, from the poorly prepared food to the supremely rube hostess/ manager (Diane) it was the worst dining experience I have ever had!!! They ran out of some food, our meals were either overcooked or cold and we received very minimal assistance from the staff to rectify the issues that came up. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, and I will contact the owners as best I can to inform them of the very rude and unaccommodating hostess Diane

I just had dinner at Golden Pines, and it was EXCELLENT! From the super friendly staff, the fast service and the BEST steak I have EVER had, this place is worthy of a five star review! The rather new steak chef Gordon is obviously a veteran professional and I hope he gets congratulated on his wonderful ability! I will be back, and I will tell everyone to visit Golden Pines! FANTASTIC!!!

The food was OK; our waitress was nice. The hostess was a different story. We tried to order an appetizer while sitting in the bar waiting for a table. The hostess told us there were so many food orders ahead of us in the kitchen that we wouldn't get the appetitizer until we were at the table. Then she walked away without taking our order.
It was the first time someone wouldn't take my order in a restaurant.response / report this review -

Hit and miss. When it's good, it's beyond great. When it's not good, it's really bad. The staff are astoundingly grumpy. Restaurants in tourist areas can't have angry staff. Unfortunately, the reputation is spreading via word of mouth and it's too bad. I've been visiting this restaurant monthly for 3 decades and it would be a shame to have this St. Germain institution lose it's good-standing on regulars and tourists alike.

This place used to be GREAT! Unfortunately not any more. I ordered Ribs which used to fall off the bone and we're excellent That was the past. On my recent trip, the ribs were actually COLD and after eating them it would have killed for dental floss. Getting the meat off the bone was more like chewing corn off the cob! I will not go back. Thank God that we didn't have guests with usthat would have been embarrassing on top of having a bad meal!

This used to be my favorite place to eat, went for the fish dinner they did not have a child's option for fish so to pay the adult amount a little too much our food came and the deep fried fish was over done. Was early enough so that can't be the excuse Service was great. Won't be going back any time soon

Very nice place. Building built in the 1930's nicely restored and maintained. Prime rib was perfect. 10 out of 10. Will go back again.

All our meals were above averageagreeable waitress and accommodating a change I requested. Nicely presented both day cheesecake to my friend Very pleasant.

Drove by Golden Pines on vacation many years saying as we pass, gotta try this place. The sign out front says "Prime Rib Everyday" So we finally stopped in. It has an extensive menu ranging from German food to seafood, steaks and of course the prime rib, which my wife and I both had. It was hard to make a choice with so many good things on the menu. We had the Queen cut, 12oz., it was done to perfection and melted in our mouths. The king is 22oz. We also had a couple appetizers. The breaded and fried duck strip with a sweet and sour dipping sauce and the shrimp and crab stuffed mushrooms were both excellent. Service was very friendly and timely. It was a little on the expensive side but I never mind paying for great quality food. We will be back to try the German food.
