Have been a customer for decades. Love to have breakfast here. My husband loves the biscuits and gravy, while I like the pancakes. Never a bad meal in all that time.
Whenever I'm back in Dayton, I have to go to Golden Nugget Pancake House. When I was younger, I loved the cinnamon pancakes. Since I now have a wheat allergy, I just assumed I would never have them again. However, I discovered they have gluten-free pancakes and are willing to make them in any flavor! Their gluten-free cinnamon pancakes are full of flavor and have a nice texture.
I can't guarantee these are appropriate for someone with Celiac, but for people with wheat allergies or just prefer to eat gluten-free, they are wonderful. And, they don't charge extra!
Another great gluten-free option is their grilled golden mush. It's made with coarse ground corn, formed into planks and grilled. It's delicious with butter and a little maple syrup.
Golden Nugget offers a wide variety of breakfast items. You can't go wrong with any of them. This is a true Dayton institution!
This used to be one of the best breakfast places around. Sadly, the specials have been the same as long as I've been alive. No changes ever! Except the muffins. The staff and customers are all the same and seem to be dying off. The prices are high. We only go so my husband can get the eggs Benedict. We probably won't be doing that anymore either now that plenty of other places serve it. I don't recommend it. Go somewhere else! Nothing Golden here!
This place is an iconic landmark. The staff have all worked here for decades, and are so friendly. The food is always delicious. You don't need a reservation, but it is always crowded. You will wait in a long line, but it does move quickly, and it is definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend. ..
You just can't go wrong with breakfast at Golden Nugget. Not pretentious, not trendy, just simple and delicious. I love their pancakes - of any flavor. And their biscuits are big and soft and buttery. The line will go fast, it's worth the wait!
This is my favorite place in the world to get a excellent breakfast. They're omelettes are the best. Also I love their whole wheat Pancakes. Their service is impeccable and they remember your name.
Delicious fooda breakfast lovers dream. The wait staff is always on point and friendly. All the booths are nice, WIDE, and comfortable. There can be long lines and a bit of a wait to get in the door, but don't be discouraged; it's worth the wait.
I've not had a horrible experience at the Golden Nugget yet. The staff is courteous and the food is great. I am full and happy.
The food was amazing!! :D the line at first seemed really long but it moves very fast. Definitely recommend going!! Got the western omelette with the 3 pancakes with the Strawberry compote!! So good!
Golden nugget remains one of Dayton areas best breakfast and lunch spots!! They haven't changed a bit in the almost 30 years I've been eating there!! Deliciousness
From the front door upon entry,to the point of sale to pay the bill=Everything was good from one to each hosting, service, food, cleanliness, friendliness & professional ism , including pricing I will return again and recommend others as well.
So go enjoy a relaxing meal at the GN, you won't regret it.
It's unfortunate that I have to give this local staple a 1 star. This morning my family and I had a very bad experience in which decided to leave before we could be served, which is something I have not done in a very long time. We arrived early and were seated. About ten or so minutes went by, and not one single waitress even looked our direction. The hostess who even sat us didn't even offer coffee. I make that point because the tipping point was her seating people across from us with a totally different attitude offer g then coffee before they even sat in their seat. Don't get me wrong, they were probably regulars to the restaurant, but you just don't blow off people like she did us. Also during thius time, waitresses walked by us numerous times and again, not even an simple "Good Morning " or " Have you been taken care of yet?" I would be a little bit more understanding if it was middle of the breakfast rush where the line is out the door, but it wasn't. It was not even 8 in the morning. No line to get seated. I even spotted a few servers standing around. I did speak to the manager. She did seem concerned by our lack of service and even asked where we were seated, which I showed her. She explained the booth we were at is the cutoff line for server sections and perhaps the servers were confused. However, if that is the case, communication between servers on who has that table would be a good idea. They seem to have enough time on their hands to chit chat outside the kitchen doors, maybe that would be a good time to decide on who will cover that table. Overall an all around bad experience from start to finish. It has been a long time since I have been to this local restaurant, but after today, I do not think my family will be back and that is very unfortunate. Service is everything. This morning there was none. We had to go to a mainstream restaurant instead of spending money at a locally owned one.
Tasty but can get really busy. Service moves fast though. You can get pancakes as a side instead of other options!
Good food, good service. Sometimes there is a long line but it moves fast. Love it!
