Used to be a great hiking gem, but they've roped and blocked off a large part of the exploring due to influx in visitors. Sad to see places come so closely watched, although still a great hike and if you can read about it, rich with history.

Very knowledgeable and approachable. I let my city born and bred teenager go into Glen Helen to find the Yellow Springs.

Unsure if he was going in the right direction, he texted me a picture. I showed the young person working. She gave me precise directions to text back to him.

He made it just fine and felt wonderful and safe hiking on his own for the first time. How precious. It is so important what they do.

Absolutely awesome!! Stopped here on the advice of a buddy and it was worth the trip. The mile or a little over trail has a grotto with small waterfall, a spring that gave the town of Yellow Springs it's name, remnants of a dam and so much more. I will definitely be going back. There is a small $5 charge for parking as Glen Helen is private non-profit but it's absolutely worth it

So disappointing, this beautiful place was donated to Antioch College to honor Helen over 80 years ago. Because of that it was always intended to be free to the public, which it still is sort of. They now charge $5 for parking and have done so for some years now, but it was initially a suggested donation. Now they are forcing you to pay and saying it's a mandatory fee. I went on my last hike there today and I saw a trail blocked with a sign and a down tree. The park decided that wasn't enough to keep people from eroding a trail so they nailed and wire wrapped thorny branches all over the log. I'm not sure what other intentions they could have had except hurting someone. It was disgusting to see!

Nice place to trek - They have a short one (about a mile) and very long one( close to 30 miles). We did the 1 mile - There are lots ups and downs - kind of a work out.
We walked along the stream and it was nice and pleasing.
They do not have any signs in the trek as they want to keep it as natural as possible. There is a map displayed in the start of the trek..so you better take picture of that in your cell phone\camera to keep it handy.

There are instructions not to get on to the water however I noticed few people getting wet and enjoying.

There are few water falls (smaller ones) even in the 1 mile trek.

They charge for parking - $5. You may park at your own risk close by as this area is not crowded.

Glen Helen was a great hiking trip for the day. We did the Pine Forest Trail & the Inman Trail. We downloaded the All Trails App which is free and we're able to Navigate from there. They do provide you with a paper map if you go to the visitors center. At the end of the trails you go up 125 steps to the top. It is dog friendly they just ask you clean up after your dog and keep them on the leash. The waterfalls were cool especially the Orange tone of the rocks. We thouroughly enjoyed our trip. Our only suggestion is to maybe have the trails labeled. It would have made it much much easier to navigate but we will definitely be back!

When I thought about leaving a review, I was initially going to leave 5 stars. Aside from the fact that parking was $5 (who does that?), we were impressed during our first few hours of hiking. However, we got lost. It doesn't matter that we used the map, gps and Google maps, the park is so poorly marked it doesn't take much to make a wrong turn. Then, the trails get quite ominous, narrow and somewhat dangerous especially for little ones. Random "bridges" made of logs, trails that end for no apparent reason, trails that cannot be traversed and so much more dropped the ratings quickly.

We ended up having to call for a ride 6 miles from our car because our normally energized children couldn't walk anymore and we were walking alongside a road with no sidewalk with cars going 60+ mph.

The park, at least the red trail, is great. Avoid the black "trail" if you don't like dead ends, water-logged sections and a nightmare of sorts.

Fun place to hike. The trails aren't the most strenuous but they can offer multiple hours of hiking. Be sure to check out the raptor house during the hike as well!

Glen Helen was pretty but we weren't overly impressed. The actual trails and landmarks weren't marked so there was a few times we weren't sure where we were at. There's also no distances marked on the map so you don't know how long the trails are. The stone crossings are marked on the map but were exactly that. We skipped crossing over the river to see the other half of the park because the majority of the rocks were mostly submerged and our feet would have been soaked. There was also a $5 fee to park in the main parking lot, which was unusual. Overall, I'm glad we went once but probably won't be going back.
