Good atmosphere, good service, and good food too! I'll be coming back again.
First time I've ever walked out of a restaurant. 20 minutes in and I had to ask the hostess if we even had a server. When our waitress arrived, she didn't give her name and apologized for "taking a few minutes." We placed our order and someone, I assume a manager, walked around checking on every tableexcept us. I expected much better, and the half hearted apology and poor attention mean I'll never be back and no longer recommend Gigis to my Airbnb guests. I'm sorely disappointed.
Nice upscale atmosphere. Food is pricey for quantity actually served. However, the food is delicious
Very nice interior designed. Lots of comfortable setting, VIP area, Outside dinning, Happy hour, Great food and servers, All around beautiful place.
Great bar area. Loved the peanut infused bourbon! Dinner was great too.
The food was good, though the night we were there, the whole restaurant had some smell of burning or gas in the air for a while. Had a nice cheerful waiter.
Fabulous food and mixed drinks. A lot of variety in the seating arrangements in large and small dining areas. I loved the coastal pasta dish, and others had the grilled shrimp with cheesy grits. The grits had a risotto quality and were crazy good.
Awesome raw bar! We sat the bar on a Friday night and had 3 raw bar items. I highly recommend trying this! The atmosphere is really great too! Great live music!
I have tried to give this place a chance but last Saturday was the final straw. There were 10 of us looking to grab a drink after dinner, knowing that GiGis has strange hours, even on weekends, I called to make sure they were open. The woman told me she would not discourage me from coming but the kitchen had closed at 9:30 and things were winding down, it was 9:45pm on a Saturday. Since we were close and only having 1 drink we went. We arrived 10 minutes later and we were turned away! Recently, I have tried to plan parties there, no one has ever returned phone calls or emails. Often we will go in for dinner and the restaurant has a few tables and they say that they are entirely reserved for the evening. No wait time just go away we don't want your business. The food is often under seasoned, especially the small plates the drinks have good pours but are expensive. This restaurant has so much potential but their lack of customer service is what will keep my friends and I from going back. Many of us that live close by love the thought of this restaurant, it's a shame that they do not want our business.
Our server didn't show up to our table for 10 minutes. Which was fine we were enjoying the fireplace. She gave us OK recommendations, but didn't know any of the specials or offer them readily. We decided on the brisket sandwiches and wedge salad. The food was good minus the super soggy pickles on the sandwich. Service was pretty slow even though they weren't busy (Monday at 7-8). But when I went to eat my leftovers, she never put my chips in. Only my sandwich. And I had almost half my portion left. I really don't like it when servers whisk away your food and don't let you pack it yourself. I spent a lot of money on dinner and only ended up with a bit of my sandwich left over. She could have asked if I wanted them before assuming I didn't.
I attended PSU twenty+ years ago so when I came back after my daughter enrolled, I expected little in terms of good restaurants. I have been consistently surprised by Gigi's with both their food and their service. The menu has a good mix of small and large plates with differing takes on Southern classics. Everything I have had has been executed well. The cocktails are updated classics and they have a varied beer and wine selection. The service has also always been good and way above what I expected. I have been back three times since my initial visit and have never been disappointed
Seriously terrible service. Had to wait in the nearly-empty bar over 20 minutes to get our drink order taken. Waitstaff and bartenders standing around, and no service offered, even after begging the hostess to get a waiter to come over. Truly weird. Drinks were tasty when they came, tho!
This place has potential. The decor is nice, and it looks like it would be nice to sit on the outdoor patio when it's warm. However, they need to lose the pretentious attitude (and maybe that was just our server, because I thought the hostesses were friendly). I ordered a burger done medium and the server informed me that the burgers could be cooked at "anything but medium." I asked why that was and he explained it was some special type of meat. Ok Never heard of that but whatever. The fries were a little cold and tasted a little stale. The beer was excellent (hazelnut porter). I thought the menu was a little pricey for what was offered but wasn't a huge deal. The biggest advantage to this place was that we didn't have to wait after the football game to get a table. Might give them another chance based on that alone.
Warm ambiance, farm to table feel, clean antique white painted wood walls, bright room with an at-home seating experience. Food was classy but simple. Service was pleasant and professional. Bill was $80 for two. I'd visit again for sure.
