This place just gets better and better. So many memories have started and ended here. Security checkpoints are generally painless and things move as efficiently as one would hope. Lots of good parking options, too, depending on if you are picking up, dropping off, or leaving your vehicle while going out of town.
Great international airport with three carousels for baggage claim. Enjoyed some Founders & Brewery Vivant while waiting.
I have been flying out of GRR for years and the experience continues to improve. More restaurant options and the ability to travel between terminals without exiting security is great. It's a much more comfortable place to hang out now.
Really want to love this place. Updated, renovated, business lounge, food choices, kids play area BUT no Premier Access. If you want more business travelers to fly out of GRR, you have to have a Premier Access lane.
Another great airport that Delta Airlines flys into. Staff is super helpful and friendly. I would definitely fly back to GRR if I had the opportunity.
Small airport. Captures the feel of Grand Rapids. Wish they had more airlines and destination options.
Renovations and updates are always nice, but getting lied to your face is never. The CEO just yesterday said they consolidated security into one area for the passenger experience, but he's lying. Maybe it was for people to spend more money in the terminal or it lowered costs overall, but it definitely doesn't improve the passenger experience. When there were separate security points, it would never take more me than 5 minutes to go through security at any time I flew. Now, it takes upwards of 30 minutes. Need to say, my passenger experience is off to a rough start. If the Ford Airport wants to compete with larger airports, congratulations, you are. You're now in the running for worst passenger experience for security checkpoints.
Really nice with the new renovation. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful, and I've never waited more than 10 minutes to get through security. The way airports should be!
This should have been a small, quite, and nice airport, if without a 40-50 year old lady with blonde hair in the security. She gave me two options, I chose one and was about to obey her instruction. However, she suddenly changed her mind, and said she would not allow me to choose. When I politely asked her why, she directly and loudly called the question "stupid." Generally, she behaved in such a disrespectful and unprofessional way during our about 10-min negotiation(what I intented to do)/ignorance and contempt(what she did).
She may not have met many Asians in her life and just be used to exert her white supremacy to non-white passengers randomly. Anyway, it is Saturday night. She may be not happy to work during weekends. Her supervisors are not working, so the poor passengers have no place to complain.
Grand Rapids is the most expensive airport to fly in and out of but it's also the most friendly airport with upbeat staff
I like that GRR is small, quick and logically laid out. There is, as others have said, lots of construction. But that's to be expected for an airport in a growing city.
I've been flying out of GRR for years and have yet to find a destination that I can't get to from GRR. Of course there are connections, but that happens on almost every flight unless you're going to a hub city.
Staff is always friendly and quick to help.
New on this trip is the Kent District Library bookshelf where you can take a book or leave a book. It's a really cool idea for travelers, you pick a book off the shelf and you're on your way - no checkout necessary!
I am completely impressed! From the moment I arrived from St Pete. Friendly staff. Starbucks. Luggage was there as soon as I went to the very clean bathrooms. Looks for purses. Beautiful sinks. Paper towels. No dirt anywhere. No nasty smells. Believe me. Other airports need to get with it!
Nice improvements throughout the airport. Really like using our airport for its ease of getting around. What I can't figure out is why there is such a delay in getting bags out to the carousel. We came in on Saturday and waited almost 30 minutes for our bags to arrive. An announcement was made for our bags on carousel 2, then the sign for this carousel changed for another flight. We then went to carousel 1 only to find out that our bags came through on carousel 2. What in the world is going on? This is not the first time I've had to wait. It seems as though these delays are the norm.
