Not busy at 2:30 on a Sunday, but service was slow, especially for having only 2 other parties to attend to.
Food was good, burgers were small, but "ground fresh and seasoned on premises"
Very old building, which I like, the floors would shake, even if a field mouse ran across.
No, there weren't any mice, I'm just saying
Mussels were excellent. Irish Onion Soup was also very good and fun to try. Shepherd’s Pie had a very prominent beef flavor, they take their time and make it right! Would have liked a table for all 6 of us but other than that food was great!
Food is great. Awesome selection of whiskey and scotch along with beer. Great service and a definite must visit!
Great little place. Pretty quiet for lunch. Have live music on some nights. My wife and I go here for "dates". Large selection of whiskeys and beers. Irish pub faire as well as sandwiches and wings.
We are vacationing in the area and stopped here because of the high reviews online and it did not disappoint! The lamb burger was by far one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. I would not suggest the onion soup however because it is too sweet not savory. Just get the crab and red pepper soup instead it's perfect.
The fish and chips were so crispy. If you like porters - get the Irish Prick beer - a smoke porter. Great vintage motif w exposed brick, field stone fireplace, and stamped ceiling.
This place was excellent! Tried the Shepherd's Pie, Fish & Chips, and a Scotch Egg. We arrived around 9 pm. There was plenty of seating. Great service & food!
Great atmosphere and decor. Loved the drink selection. Had something for our large group and the service was excellent.
Probably the most authentic 'irish' pub around gettysburg or anywhere else. the food was very good, decor and service were outstanding. you walk into a dim and very lively barroom and the dining room is well it to the left. looked like artwork from local artists hanging throughout. highly recommend as restaurants in this area seemed to be somewhat hit or miss.
I've only been here 3 times over the course of 2 years and I just can't say enough good things about it. The food is delectable, the service is superb. I especially love the mussels in the garlic and white wine sauce. They are absolutely the best I've ever had. Visit Garryowen Irish Pub when you're in Gettysburg. You won't be disappointed.
The Garryowen is my favorite place to get a drink in Gettysburg. The staff members are all friendly and the service is great. They also serve delicious food with some classic Irish dishes like Shepherd’s pie and Guinness beef stew.
Historical looking, good food, clean, very attentive and friendly waiter! Hostess didn't look like she wanted to be there. Bar smelled of old beer terribly. Shepard's pie was very good, my boyfriend got a burger with Guinness cheese which he liked.
What a pleasant little surprise - a confirmation that appearances can deceive. We were a little hesitant at first, due to the appearance of a few patrons outside smoking, but once inside we warmed up to the place.
The bar had a great collection of Irish whiskeys, and the bartender did a great job of describing them, based upon those she poured for me.
We later started with the Crab and Roasted Red Pepper Bisque, which was unbelievable. I tried to secure the secret recipe, but it's well guarded. You'll just have to try it.
Our entrées were equally superb, and the service both at the bar and table were outstanding.
We'll be back for sure and highly recommend this great The Garryowen Irish Pub.
We got the Irish nachos, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. All the food was well made and delicious. A tall pretty blonde woman with a nice smile (I forgot your name, sorry!) Gave us awesome service. The only thing I'd say is that the staff were dressed extremely casually, which kind of threw off the vibe of the building. Other than that, it was great!
I have been to Ireland many times. The place is pretty authentic in ambiance. The food was excellent. We stayed in Gettysburg three days and ate here three times. The Irish breakfast was great. We also had salmon, fish and chips, Scottish eggs and the shrimp and grits for brunch. All was great. The service was good and friendly. I highly recommend this place!
