This place is amazing. Cute and cozy and close to everything. This place is much better than the Palms hotel.
For starters, check in was off site about a mile away. When we got to the room we didn’t know we had to share a bathroom with other guest and the hotel wanted to charge us $50 plus tax if we wanted to upgrade rather than accommodate us. The room was incredibly small and cramped, thin walls, dated. When we opened the sheets, we found hair on the pillows and bed. I woke up in the middle of the night with a bug crawling on me. At checkout, I told the front desk about my experience. They issued a half hearted apology as if it wasn’t the first time they heard this, and when I asked to speak to a manager they said he wasn’t there and to call back at 4pm. I called and he still wasn’t there so I left my contact info and messagetwo days later and still not a peep. Normally, I don’t write reviews (especially negative) but I would have easily overlooked my bad experience and came back if they were only just a bit more accommodating and hospitable. 0 stars.
Nice rooms, all unique, in a great location in Key West! The pool is small, but there's water all around you, anyway
This was an awful place, the location was good, it's pretty much a dump, the pictures are not current..we had 2 nights booked and non refundable, didn't stay after we saw the room. Also the rental agency you check in with is not onsite, the address we had for them was incorrect, and we're told they had moved months ago. Lots of driving around for nothing. Would recommend to no-one.
Nice place with cozy feel. If you give the church next door a $10/day donation they'll let you park in their lot. Put the money in an envelope and put your name, contact information and make and model of the car and you're good to go.
To check in you have to go to other building of Key West. In addition the room was so so tiny that barely there was space for the luggage. We had to share a small bathroom of the last century. The window was impossible to open and had the size of two papers. Definitely It's not worth the money for such a small place.
The best part about the Garden House is its location. Our flight landed after 8pm so we had to pick up our keys and door code at the main office, which is a 15 minute walk from the house. The door code didn't work, someone at the main office wrote the wrong code down for us. It took 5 minutes for the code to reset, when we entered our room we were disappointed at how small it was. The bed and pillows are comfortable, and there are clean towels every day. Breakfast is from 8-10 every morning, the coffee was decent.
They clean the rooms every day, but for some reason they don't clean the floors. After showering we somehow tracked dirt from the closet back to the bathroom. The maids didn't clean the dirt off the toilet seat lid for 2 days, my husband finally did it himself.
Our flight home was cancelled due to winter storm Stella. Luckily our stay was extended, but someone at the office forgot to tell the computer and we were locked out of our room on the last day. When we called in, the woman on the phone (Kelsey) was rude and hung up on my husband.
For the same price you can find a room at a hotel with a pool (not the lukewarm hot tub they call a pool, which was full of leaves), a bar, and a restaurant. I stand by this review, I will never stay at a Key West Vacation Rental again.
We have a great, relaxing time here. The area by the gulf as so relaxing, scenic, and peaceful.
Beautiful little place. Very reasonable
Service has been good and efficient. The rooms are small but quaint. They were perfect for our quick 2 day getaway to the keys. Everyone has been friendly, the place is clean and accommodating. Also, great location to Duval St., Mallory square and Yankee Freedom II
Came with a group for the Earnest Hemingway look alike contest and our guy, Dave Hemingway won!
We had 6 rooms in our group, awesome experience. Scrambled eggs, pan fried potatoes, bacon, and sausage breakfast on Friday and Saturday. Yogurt was also available.
Went out exploring in the morning then lounged in the pool in the afternoons meeting other great guests. Easy access to everything on Duval St. Was planning to walk to things but renting bikes was a way better experience.
AC, window units, worked great, ice machine located right by the pool.
So, in response to all the haters, this isn't the Hilton, and you are in Florida. I grew up in FL, there are bugs and anole lizards that have lived here longer than you have so just get over it or find a place closer to home for your vacations. I really don't know what to tell the shared bathroom complainers as it is clearly advised as to what you are getting into. If you're spending so much time in your room that you have complaints, you're missing out on the Key West experience.
We had a room with our own bathroom and we were very happy here. We like small boutique hotelswe've been at the Sol e Luna in Peru and the Lindos Blu in Greece
..for us, The Garden House was quaint and enjoyable.
