It’s convenient if you live here, amenities are good, is less stressful, and offers connections to most places you’d probably have a connection in anyways. But, unless work is paying, it’s just too expensive to fly in and out of. Almost twice the price of JAX or MCO it seems.
As frequent traveler, I appreciate how small and fast dropoff-to-gate. However, this airport is ill suited for any long waits or delays. Food is greasy junk and bar is unimpressive. To echo others, however, the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Glad to see there is an option close to Ocala. With that being said. On 11.7.2017 around 8 am. I checked into Delta and had to waite about 30 minutes for a rep from Delta to check my bag. The female rep then told me to bring my bag and leave it unsecured and unmonitored in front of a check in area. How safe is this?
Although they had a grill to order food, there were no healthy choices. They may want to offer egg white and vegetables options. The grill rep (outside the secured area) was the best thing at this place. Although there were no healthy choices, he gave great customer service and made a good cupachino.
This is a very small airport with not many facilities. But all the staff I have encountered (check in, serving at the bar, car rental) have been super friendly and helpful. What a lovely atmosphere. This airport should be very proud of its staff!
Nice airport but the biggest drawback is they close in night and worst part the customer care do not mention this. So if anyone has a early morning flight make sure to check for airport Timings before boarding flight
I have tried to support GNV but after two out of three bad experencies I am sorry to say it has come to an end.Late flights ,missed connections, a nite in Charlotte, getting home in NYC at four in the morning instead of 11pm,lack of people knowing that there THREE major airports in the NYC area and for the lack of alternatives when there are problems I am DONE.I post this for my daughter who has been subject to these problems,JAX is good
Easy coming and going, great staff that provide personal care, your not just a number here.
TSA generally is quick even though there is only 1 lane. The staff for the TSA are definitely top notch friendly, helping get through faster, usually with a smile.
Only 3/4 gates, 1 Delta uses and the other 2 are primarily American, from what I have seen. They have a full bar, snacks, souvenirs, and pretty good food.
Delays on occasion like any other airport.
The do have sort of rewards program that I have gotten rounds of golf (cart included), Dominoes cards for free items, Marriott reward points, to name a few. With the program, there is an office/relaxing area preTSA for members only with coffee at no charge.
I've never had an issue with flights at this airport and the staff/crew have all been very pleasant. TSA here is also very nice (especially when compared to Orlando -- ugh). Do not park your car here though! It is like $10 a day! Had I done my research beforehand, I would've taken a cab there for sure.
Been standing in line for 20 minutes to try to find out where my son's bag is. No employees to be found from delta. After standing in line for 15 minutes ( a group of passengers) in front of tsa agents, side one else walks up and says " this is the wrong line you need to go over there" the other employees couldn't have told the people in line that??
Very inefficient system here
Great airport to get in and out quickly. Going through TSA takes little time (depending on the day and time.)
First time dropping off someone at the airport. Had a question about drop off zone and politely asked two "security officers" (address them as "sir") in Khaki uniform. Yet I was personally scolded, mocked, and insulted for no apparent reason by both officers and had to drive away to avoid further confrontation. While I was driving away I was provoked by both "officer" verbally for no reason again. Very disappointed in the behavior of these two "officers". While my friend and I received better treatment from airline staffers inside the airport, the damage is already done, and I do not recommend flying from this airport, the service at Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando are much better from personal experience. If you have to fly from this airport, try to avoid use the drop off zone, as the "security officers" would randomly provoke people. Park you car even if you are just dropping off someone (short term is cheap enough and definitely worth it if you want to avoid getting scolded, mocked, insulted and/or provoked by the "security officers" wearing Khaki color uniform).
GNV is the absolute worst airport in US. Each and every week there is a different excuse for planes being late when it does arrive the luggage return is painfully slow. They never leave on time and are always late arriving. Fly JAX its just 60 minutes up the pike. Better flights and no excuses youll be glad you did. every week is a white knuckle will I make my connection nightmare
GNV offers the plusses and minuses you expect from a small regional airport. Parking is close, relatively inexpensive and convenient. Security lines are relatively short. But flights may be slightly more expensive and invariably require a stopover (unless your destination is Atlanta, Charlotte or Miami). Food and other services are minimal but adequate. All in all, generally a better airport experience than you'll have a major metros.
