I was here for a short period of time on a Friday and the owner stated his next opening was Tuesday. He then called back and fit me in explaining everything step by step they did. I run a mortgage office and understand the importance of customer service. He went above and beyond. The prices were very fair. Can't say enough about how pleased I am.

I wanted to get a full exhaust done on my mustang and I had 5 shops in mind and all other 4 shops said they would call me back but they did not. And I came upon this, of course with a little skepticism. I talked to Terry and I asked him if he could do it and how long it would take. I just put my trust in them and they took care of me. He's a very respectable man. Terry told me the owner was very passionate for cars and the MAIN thing that led me to this shop was the confidence from Terry because he told me that he can do it and they have done plenty of them. I wasn't going to base my decision off of some corny reviews about oil changes thats probably not even true. Long story short, the job called for 10 hours and they did it in 10 hours. He worked with me and i did my best to be patient. It took 3 days to do this and thats what he quoted me from the start. I am going to take my car here for any future work because i can trust this shop very well now. What they put on is amazing! no exhaust leaks or cutting(they even let me know that there was no cutting need to be done so i felt safer with my car being there). I highly recommend it to anyone!

My truck broke down while driving to Iowa. I called Free State Auto works and they went ahead and towed my truck to their shop and fixed my truck in less than an hour. Excellent services and fair price.

Terry (Service Manager) is an awesome guy, great to work with. He goes out of his way to actually teach you something about your vehicle and how it works, specifically what they're doing to it. Excellent, fair pricing and great communication. I've had a number of things done there over multiple years and on multiple cars. Use these guys with confidence!

I take my BMW to Free State Auto Works and I couldn't say good enough things about their service and their service manager, Don. They are really helpful, and unlike a lot of shops, won't perform work on your car and bill you later. I refer everyone who asks me about car maintenance there.

Don't hesitate to get your car worked on there! Definitely a good shop, plus, they are local to Lawrence instead of a big chain place.

Also, don't listen to the people saying negative things on here. I've sent 10+ friends to Free State and they have all had GREAT experiences. The negative people probably just have their heads up their a** and don't know anything. No shop would EVER recommend a whole new engine for an overheating problem..that makes no sense.

Also, sometimes it's hard to tell if an internal part is broken. Say for example, if a water pump on a car is bad, it's literally impossible to know without taking it off the car. Don't listen to the negative people on here. Free State is a great shop with great service.
