Beautiful park in a secluded area (apart from the fact that the road borders a large section of the park). Great for a leisurely amble, but there are also a wide array of events offered.

Really nice visitors center, field trips set up for homeschool student groups have been informative and fun. Not very expensive but there is a cost to use the park. Every year Allen County Parks includes a trail here in their free Trailblazer program. It's a good opportunity to see the park free.

Has a great nature center with a tree house to play in. After we went on our hike the kids wanted to go back to play at the nature center.

This place is a hidden gem. We've loved spending our summer swimming and picnicking around the lake with our kids. There are wonderful walking trails and a play structure for kids. Great for a family outing for swimming, picnicking, walking, and fishing.

Great place to take the dog! Our border collie, Beulah, loves traversing through the trails on Fox Island. We have yet to take her to the water, but I'm sure it'll be a hit!
I personally like how certain trees are marked along the trails. And at one of the trailhead they have various rocks as well.response / report this review -

Very nice swimming hole and never over crowded. Almost everyone I've met there has been super friendly. Haven't tried fishing there yet but will very soon. Conservation center has a lil bit for all ages

Park is well maintained/protected and accurately represents what Fort Wayne was before development. Nice beach with clean natural spring fed lake. E-coli counts less than well water in the area. Beautiful wetlands and tremendous wildlife. Staff management leaves much to be desired

So peaceful. All you have is nature and trails on the one side. If you like public water facilities, it has that too.

It's a city park with a country feel. It has bird-watching, hiking, cross-country skiing - all within a 20 minute drive from just about anywhere in Fort Wayne. You actually feel like you're out of the city when you're there.

I had the pleasure of walking through this park looking for the morels. since i'm a first time morel hunter, i had plenty of people offering helpful tips on finding them, this is a great place, lots of fun things to do for the kids, while teaching them at the same time. i actually bought a family membership for the year and went quite often. beautiful woods and scenery.

For what it has to offer, it's a great park. No it's not as big as other parks in other states, that has more to do with Indiana having some odd motivation to hack down all the forests and trees rather the park and staff themselves. Yes there are entry fees (you're in Indiana), the people there are always helpful, and primarily want everyone to have a good time. They also have some neat guides and events from time to time.
