Great pre-graduation luncheon. Slow service but great food
The atmosphere is good--not very fancy to match the prices. I am much more impressed by their lunch and dessert menus than their dinner menu. Their desserts are AMAZING, but their dinner menu is hit or miss and overpriced.
Food is delicious and place always nice and clean. Little pricey though.
Overall it's OK. Food was very good but in my opinion over priced. A $37 petit filet (and I do mean PETIT) with one starch side and no salad is a little pricey for Tallahassee. Service was good and for the most part timely. This single meal with a glass of wine, tip and tax and you've said goodbye to $60. Better like your company a lot!
I really wish I could give more stars. Last week I had a late lunch at FGF. Soup, Salad desert and coffee. The soup and salad were fine and the coffee was wonderful because it was of Lucky Goat. Then came the desert. Normally FGF deserts are the best in town. Their pastry chef is amazing but she REALLY dropped the ball on this one. I ordered the peanut butter brownie cheesecake and it was disgusting. Utterly tastelesslike eating cold paste. What was she thinking? Did she not taste this desert? It was god awful and ruined what should have been the best part of the meal. If you're known for your pastriesSTAND BY THEM. Taste them, make sure they are up to FGF standards. If not don't serve them! I may come back but I will NEVER order that Cheesecake again. I took 2 bites and through it away. Gross and a waste of money too!
So very disappointed in my visit today. Service was terrible. Asked multiple times for lemon for my tea and when it was finally brought to the table we were presented with a small plate of literally rotten slices of lemon. When our food finally arrived we had to request silverware and napkins multiple times. Got the oyster Caesar salad which came with overcooked oysters two of which were cold in the middle. Not sure how that can even happen. Reheated frozen previously cooked? Sure hope this isn't the beginning of the end for this Tallahassee classic.
Everything was delicious! I had the cortadito and the bacon, egg and cheese an an English muffin. It was a hearty serving and the best coffee I've ever had! Service was great too!
Perfect place for a brunch with the one you love or with the girls!
Best Calamari I have ever had. I wish I lived nearby still so I could go more often and try more things. A friend got something else and it looked really good too. I would consider catering from there too.
Good atmosphere with great food. Parking can be tough. Great group venue.
The service is great, and they have the best bread ever (seriously, the best. I would go just for the bread). The rest of the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. Some of it was too salty, some too bland. I got the pan seared scallop. My husband got the fried grouper cheeks and liked it a lot. I would recommend that dish. As far as the atmosphere, is has kind of a hip vibe, but it's very noisy. We went on a Friday night, though, so it may not always be that way.
I have been to FGF a few times to pick up dessert but had never dined here until tonight when my coworkers and I saw the horribly long line at 4 Rivers, so we decided to come here instead. I love their desserts and have always enjoyed when restaurants have a rotating menu so I was very excited to eat a full meal here.
Everything on the menu looked great and we were seated immediately upon our arrival. There were several other tables in the restaurant besides ours but initially it didn't prove problematic.
We ordered our food -- one of us got the gnocchi and soup, another got the bangers and mash and I opted for the peppered tuna.
This is about where the pleasant experience ended. We waited for nearly an hour and a half for our food which is honestly unacceptable to me. Our waitress told us several times that our food "would be ready in a few minutes," so imagine how irritated I was when a few minutes turned into 10 minutes, then 20 then half an hour.
The manager came over to our table and apologized, BUT then made up an excuse for the horrible wait. "We just are so busy tonight as you can see!" Yes, I can see you're busy, but that's no excuse to make patrons wait forever for their food. Managers shouldn't make excuses like that. It was almost like she was blaming us for not realizing how busy it was. Our server reiterated the busy comment too which was doubly annoying. Everyone at my table was irritated.
As far as the food went, it was actually pretty great. The flavors were perfect on my tuna and the blue cheese/mushroom mix was delicious.
I was so perturbed by the manager and the service though that I would be incredibly hesitant to come back. The manager didn't even give us a discount or offer us free drinks or anything despite the fact that we were waiting for TWO hours for our food.
I would give this place one more shot and then if the service is truly awful I will not hesitate for a second to dock this place down another star.
Their desserts are amazing so maybe just come for that? The poor service and excuses for their setbacks is enough for me to not readily recommend this place to anyone.
This restaurant lives up to its name as glorious. The food does not leave anything to be desired. There are different seating areas including restaurant, bar, and outside and there is a tantalizing selection of desserts that you didn't know you needed.
Highly priced restaurant and bar, but the food you can't get elsewhere. They've teamed up with local farmers and other small local businesses to provide the freshest and top notch ingredients in their food. Play of Sunlight Mushrooms supplies them with the best oyster mushrooms, which FGF turns into an even better meal.
